Purple Toes and Feet | Arthritis Information

I have recently been having problems with my  feet and ankles again. I have been having a lot of pain in my feet. It hurts to stand or walk most times and cannot do either task for every long. I have noticed that when I do try to not give in to my feet telling me they hurt or we are out and about and there is no where for me to sit, and they hurt worse. When I get home and take off my shoes and socks my toes and the bottom of my feet will be purple. They hurt worse when they are purple.

I do not think they have ever turned purple before. I cannot really remember much about the my symptoms from the last time I was really bad off.

Alls I know is when I was starting to get bad off and bed ridden the last time it all started in my feet and ankles and then went everywhere else from there. It is really starting to make me scared.

I think you need to be off your feet as much as possible this week. Probably too much moving work has done you in, hopefully resting those feet will help.

My left foot and right knee are trashed again. Now i don't have a leg to stand on

I am not sure what is causing it. I hope it is just that. I have been taking my pred dose pak this week. I am the less bit swelled, I am able to move around fairly good and all. You know no struggle to get off the toilet. But my feet... they still hurt and my ankles are slightly swelled, but towards the back where that tendon is that runs down the back of your leg to your foot.

I LOVE me some pred dose pak, but only when it takes away all my problems and not just some of them

Such fun!!!

Rest those feet the best you can.

Oh Joonie...that sounds just awful. Could your circulation be cutting off from the swelling? I sure would call the dr and let him know. Better safe than sorry. Hope you feel better soon. This is my experience with purple feet and toes.  My foot that I have problems with will do that.  It is from the damaged nerve in the back of my knee.  I have what they call drop foot and it will just *poof* decide to swell and turn purple.  It has gotten way better since I have started the Lyrica.  Elevation helped me when it would do that.

My hands turn purple from poor circulation. Maybe being on your feet with shoes on is affecting your circulation. I think I would ask a dr. about it. Do you have any numbness in your feet?

I finally sprang for a real pair of crocs and they are amazing. I got the "cloud" version which is for nerve damaged or arthritic feet (lucky me-my feet are both!) They are really great although hot. I am thinking of trying the lands end "trellos for summer. They look like they'd be cooler.

Sounds like a circulation problem to me. I have Raynaud's due to scleroderma and the same thing happens to my hands and feet. You do need to sit down when it happens until you can feel the pain decreasing, due to the blood returning.  If it persists sometimes a prescription drug such as nifedipine can help.  Pat
