Why Is It?! | Arthritis Information

Why is it that I want to crave what seems to be the most fattening nuts in the world?!

I bought some walnuts. I love walnuts! I just do not eat them much.

I read the nutrition on the bag and it says 1oz = 18mg of fat!

OH and then to make matters worse... there is a recipe on the back of the bag called Walnut-Cranberry Freeze. Which sounds REALLY REALLY good!

Walnut-Cranberry Freeze

3 1/2 cups of cranberries, ground or finely chopped

1 3/4 cups of sugar

8oz. can crushed pineapple

2 cups of walnuts chopped

8oz. package softened cream cheese

1 cup whipping cream, whipped

In large bowl combine cranberries and sugar, stir in pineapple and walnuts. In separate bowl blend cream cheese, gradually add cranberry mixture, mixing until well blended. Fold in whipped cream. Pour into a 9 X 13-inch pan and freeze. Cut into squares for serving.

Ok, when I go back to Freak-Mart I am going to buy the ingredients to make this recipe. I just hope I can figure out how to fold whipped cream into it all

Animal fat is the only really bad fat for you (oh, and trans fat - but I think that comes from animal fat.) That's the stuff that builds up the cholesterol. You're fine! Eat some nuts! Walnut oil is one of the healthiest oils on earth. I have had that recipe and it
is really good. Enjoy it.

I do not eat meat much, or try not to eat it that much. We have been alternating between chicken and pork chops and ground chuck 80/20. I cannot stand grease it gives me a head ache.

I am one of those people who will grouge on something they have been craving until I get sick of the taste, but when I do that I do not want it again for months.

I love walnuts too. Here's what I do: I make a pot of oatmeal (not the kind in the envelope mind you!), I add a few walnuts (FEW being the operative word here) and break them up (or chop them) add a handful of those Craisins, some brown sugar and milk. OH MY! You will be so completely full for hours after that. Walnut craving solved and not too many eaten.
