Pain Management Clinic | Arthritis Information

I went to the pain management clinic today, for my first appointment..not reall sure what to expect..

I figured I would get information on ways to support my joints, maybe a schedule for PT, maybe some techniques for dealing with stress.

After a chat with the dr. ( a very nice man.. I'm quite comfortable with him..and my sister is his patient as well), in which we mostly dealt with my stress level, and the tendency for my hips to "dislocate", it was decided that they were going to try a series of nerve blocks in my SI joint and in c7? does that sound right? Down low on the spine.

The thought of nerve blocks hadn't occurred to me. But when he touched my back right over the SI joint he had to basically peel me off the ceiling..

My first shot is tomorrow morning...It all seems terribly fast. Now I've gotta learn everything I can before 7 a.m.

oh well I don't have time to be scared I guess... Any info anyone has would be appreciated.

Hiya Kathy,

I don't have any personal experience, but a girl at my work has had a c7 nerve block done. She had it done about 2 months ago and it's brought her a world of relief. She still has a somewhat limited range of movement, but the pain relief has apparantly been well worth it. I thought the c7 was higher up, near where the neck and spine join? (I could be wrong, only going by what she's told me)

Best of luck with it, and I'm glad you're getting some help with the pain!

Please let us know how it goes

We'll all be waiting to hear how it went today Kathy. Hope you're feeling better already.

Lovie

Kathy,

You're undergoing your nerve block already...just wanted to wish you luck.  I have had several nerve blocks and they all helped me quite a bit.  It is a really strange sensation when they inject you...kind of like pins and needles...but the after-effect was amazing.  I had a severe knee contracture in 97 and could not walk without limping.  This was part of my early RA picture...what restored my ability to walk was those nerve blocks and physical therapy.  Let us know how you fared.
