Hello I was just diagnosed last week my MD did blood work and x-rays.  She also gave me DICLOFENAC SOD 75MG.  And I will have my very first appt. with rheumataligist (dont even know how to spell that yet) on the 4th of June.  For the last month my legs from my hips down had been (still are) killing me I tried to walk it off tried asprin thinking ok maybe loose a little weight it will go away.  No such luck So now after a week it is really hitting me I feel like crying feel like just crawling into bed.  I know I can not do this as I have a husband and two beutifull girls who are really helping me with every day chores.  I just want this to go away I know it wont but it is hard to grasp (literally).  Last night my husband heated up the rice heating pads I put one under each hip and I fell asleep like a baby Im still waking up at 4 each morning not being able to get comfortable.  Maybe when I go to the Rheumatologist he will give me something to help with the pain.  Thats a whole nother bag of worms I am scared to open.  But by reading these messages we must deal keep going do what makes us feel better, trust in god and family support.  Im glad I found this site.

Hi there, welcome to the board.I am sorry you are going through such a tough time and i am glad you have your family to help you, it does make all the difference. It is very confusing and frightning but it doesnt always mean a bad diagnosis.some people respond well to meds and once you have seen the rheumatologist you will have a clearer idea of whats going on. If you need to vent or need some advice then this is the place to be, as there are people on here from all walks of life and with many issues with RA that can help.Welcome aboard again and hope to see you here again.

Take care

Hey TL!!  welcome and sorry you had to find us ....  if you didn't have RA, you wouldn't be here.  I'm pretty new myself, diagnosed about 3 months ago or so.  can't remember exact date.  you can say "rheumy".  it works.  :-)  heat works great!  too bad your doctor didn't give you something stronger for the pain until you got to see yoru rheumy.  try hot baths ...

Welcome to the board!  You will find lots of really nice and caring people here with a lot of knowledge.  I'm sure you still have a bunch of questions so ask away!  Someone here will most likely have an aswer for you!

Take care of yourself til that rheumy appointment and listen to your body and rest when you can.  Keep us posted on what your rheumy says!

Hi and welcome TL!  Maybe your MD can call in something to tie you over until your rheumy appt.  I am sorry that you are in so much pain and do understand.

Keep us informed and take care.

Welcome.

Since the heated rice packs helped, try a hot bath. Even at 4 am a 30 minute hot soak might let you have 2 more hours of sleep.

Hey Taralakey, WE have the same little flying bird symbol, cool. Welcome and know I HEAR your pain. Oh my gosh, it is so hard to be hurting in the middle of the morning. You try to be quiet and not wake everyone and that causes stress. Others need their sleep.....etc. I now how it goes!

I'm one to call the Rhumy's office and ask to be put on  a cancellation list or something, let them know the pain you are in.(now we are into the weekend and they will be GONE!)  My experience is they RESPOND to pain! June 4th is a long way off and a LOT of sleepless, painful nights. Try to get help. There are so many pain meds out there (read beneith the posts!), so yu don't need to suffer.

Being new to this roller coaster ride is difficult as you have so much going and being in pain makes it tough to THINK!, you will get some choices of meds from the RA doc, he/she'll examine your other joints and have a plan for you. Unfortunately, all the meds take TIME, maybe months to help you, so they'll get you as comfortable as possible with something like 'Prednisone'while they figure out what's the best RA medication and treatment!

Lots of luck and please keep pushing for more help, you can't suffer for 2 or three weeks with this stuff! They will be on vacation for the Memorial day and every holiday, so please call them and speak up next week and tell them what you told us! Good luck, sarah

TL...I'm sure we can relate with you and you pain right now.

I know this worked for me to help relieve the pain...my MD prescribed me 10mg of Prednisone to hold me over until my appointment with my Rhumy....who...by the way also prescribed me 10 mg of Prenisone.

It's great that you have such a supportive family.

Hey, take the hot baths even though it wakes the whole household, YOU can't be in that kind of pain, now matter WHAT you have to do!! Sarah

Welcome to Ai Tara. Glad you're here.....sorry you had to seek us out; but since you did......glad you found us. This board and other's like it will be a great tool as you get to know this new life with RA.

Hope to see more of you here.
