My mom have RA and fibro. My grandma have RA and OA

don't sound to good for me LOL i know i can't have OA yet! so you can have both RA and fibro?

I was told in 99 that I had fibro to explain my joint pain, but the dx was changed in 2000 to RA.  Not sure if they took away the fibro part...as they've never again mentioned it.

Yes any thing seems possible with these diseases.   I have RA, OA, Fibro... you seem to name it and my body will accept it.   You have to remember once you have one autoimmune disease it's more likely that more will follow than not.

Good luck !!!!

Rum--Don't want to burst your bubble, but it's very possible for a young person to have OA.  And I think Olive is right.  One autoimmune disease seems to lead to the others.  I thought I was the autoimmune queen until I read Olive's list.  I abdicate my throne and bow to you, Olive...

Sara,

Please, please... feel free to take the crown back !!!!  :o)   But, most of all please, don't bow.   We all tend to get stuck when we do that gesture.

Really though, I was told that you can accumulate gobs more than the average person since we have the weakness in our immune systems with just one.

The hardest part is letting go of what was a "normal" life to a life with too many doctors, medications, and tests to regain that "normal" life again.

Ah, yes, my queen.  You must accept my crown.  I have but three of the lovely diseases--OA, RA and MS.  You are so much more endowed than I.  And worry not.  Bowing is not my present problem.  I hope, however, that you will not require me to genuflect...

Seriously, I think you're absolutely correct about our systems being weakened and therefore suseptible.  I think, too, that attitude plays a huge part in our day-to-day dealing with the diseases.  My attitude?  "I don't have time for this crap!  I won't let this stuff slow me down.  I have places to go, people to see..."

Oh yes Sara...I so believe what you are saying.  I also have another saying that I mention often when my feet are flared and I am trying to remain positive.  I often say "these feet were made for walking!" Just knowing that this too shall pass and I will not give up!  I think life is so wonderful and I am blessed just to live it:)  I have been sick for sooo long that although the pain can be very debilitating, my head keeps reminding me of all I have to be grateful for!
