fatigue before flare? | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone. I have had some very good days over the last two weeks. Prior to that I had a five week flare that hit like a mack truck! Yesterday and today I have had major fatigue. I slept today for 3 hours and did not feel rested when I got up. Can fatigue be a sign of a flare coming? I appreciate your input, many thanks, RainHi, I'm not sure, but I know when my 'meds' are running out I have more fatigue. I'm trying remicade and after 2 weeks, and not time to take the mtx, I felt real tired. I'm to take the monthly dose of remicade tomorrow, and took the mtx , Friday, and I"ve been sleeping and feeling tired lately? Don't know. Maybe I'm not getting enough mtx (only 15mgs), you bring up a great question, others here may have a clue. lv sarahHi, Rain Marian is a lovely name. SarahfATIGUE BEFORE A FLARE IS VERY COMMON.....SORRY TO HEAR YOU ARENT GOOD, HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON. I THINK THE FATIGUE IS AN INDICATION THAT THE FLARE IS ON ITS WAY, ALTHOUGH I HAVE HAD THE FATIGUE WITHOUT THE FLARE AS WELL..............STRANGE DISEASEThe symptoms can be mouth, throat & lung infections (ulcers, flu, cough, tonsilitis, sore throat etc.), stomache, headache, fever besides fatigue and restless.

I get fatigued before a flare.  But don't panic!!  Is there a change in weather coming up? Any new stress in your life?  Did you overdo it?

Do what you can to prevent or control this flare.  What kicked you out of your flare last time?  Do you do pred when you flare?  Maybe be proactive and at the first sign you are going into the flare call your rheumy and say hey I'm flaring I need a pred pack.  Or ask what else can I do to make this easy and get out of it quickly if you don't do pred.  Try to rest when you can and don't overdo it if you are feeling fatigued.  That sometimes works for me to prevent a flare.  Take it easy on the housework.  Do a little at a time and take many small breaks.  It takes onger, but it does get done and you are not as wiped out when it is finished.

I hope you go back to having good days again very quickly!!!

I always have extreme fatigue before a flare. The kind of fatigue that I can't do a thing but veg out.

This is how all my flares start. If I have an overwhelming desire to take a
nap in the early afternoon, I know it is coming. I try to prepare, but it just
hits me know matter what I do. I just have to ride it out. I have not had a
flare in a couple of months, knock on wood.

I consider heavy fatigue a kind of flare in and of itself. That 'swear words' fatigue makes it harder to enjoy life than the joint pain.

Yup I'm tired again today.
