Hey all,
Well, I am wondering if anyone here that has RA has ever had this problem.
For about 2 weeks off and on, I have had where my feet and hands itch like crazy. They become really hot, swollen, itch and blotchy. It is like a itching that can't be stopped and it is horrable.
Well, this weekend on Friday...my feet started to itch again, thinking is would be like before, I'd soak them in cold water, put them up, scracth them and them in about an hour it would all subside.
Well, Not so...!!! My whole body goes into over load. Not only are my hands and feet itching, but my legs, arms, face chest and head. My hands get all blothcy, my arms start to develop the same blothces and the pain and itching are SOOOOOOOO bad and intense, my husband has to take me to the emergency room to get help.
I am really scared. The ER doctors think it has something to do with the RA. I remember my mom use to have this rash that she'd get...but it wasn't like this.
Has any one ever suffered from this?
Roblyn
You poor thing! I haven't had that experience, but I do itch a lot. Don't know if it's just dry skin or what. But sometimes I scratch so hard I leave streaks on my arms, legs, back, etc...
Plaquenil made me itch like that and have rashes everywhere. They were just as you describe them.
If I went out in the sun for even 15 minutes it would get so much worse. I sure hope they can find out what is going on
HOpe things are better tomorrow.
I would stop the Plaquenil if I were you, but of course check with your Dr.
There isn't any rash at all...just blocthiness, redness, itching and heat.
I have a doctors appt tomorrow and I will let you all know what he said. I am sure there has to be some explaination for this all.
Thanks again for the help and kind words,
Roblyn
Were you an any other drugs like antibiotics for some reason? It sounds like a full blown case of hives. I have had that too. My allergy was to bextra a cox2 nsaid I'd been taking for about 2 years.
My Rhuemy says you can become allergic to any thing at any time. I told him that was horrible and not at all comforting. He said he felt the same way, but that it was a fact.
Boy, it sure does sound like a medication reaction to me. Possibly the sulfa
