Ok, I had some more new things happen over the weekend and I have some more questions. I hope u ladies dont get sick of me, im still learning. I just realized from the post b4 mine that food affects inflammation. I had no clue! Anyways...goin to he Rheumy for the first time on the 23rd. K, so this weekend sucked Friday night I delt w/ pain in my thumb and knees... When I woke up Saturday My ankles, knees and hip were so week and numb feeling. There were times I felt like I could really fall out and I had that feeling in my lower back. So is this a normal thing? Is it part of the RA I also felt run down and exausted all weekend like I was trying to come down with something. Today is much better. So the weak leg thing. If thats something normal will it get worse? Can they control that? Im already tired of medicines. I wish there were one pill for everything... I have the joint pain and if i get rid of that then I have a deep pain that only pain pills stop, then I get muscle spasms sometimes and I dont takem but I think I need a muscle relaxer, and now Im wondering If I have some kind of nerve stuff goin on... Anyways... any imput would help...
Thanks
Linda

First of all we are not going to get sick you.  Second of all, those are very good and valid questions you have asked.

Ra can also inflame nerves, tendons, and ligaments.  Inflammation is not restricted to the joints.  So, something could have been inflamed leaving you feeling the way you did.  It is very much a part of the ra that you feel run down and exhausted.  That is probably the number one thing we all battle with.  You may possibly need a muscle relaxer if you are having spasms.  Don't suffer thru that.  You might not be getting rid of the deeper joint pain that you are experiencing because the meds you are on for your ra still havent calmed your ra down yet.  Please remember pain is a symptom for an underlying condition.

It is extremely frustrating all the meds that we are on.  You should see what I take every morning!  I know some of the people here could beat me out on meds count too!  We all wish there was one pill that did it all.  Trust me on this one.

Hope this helped!

Im on nuthing like the medicine that yall are on. Ive only seen my Family Dr. so far and he had give me 2 cortizone shots which the first was awesome, second one set my spasms off though. He put me on Celebrex once a day and it didnt help so he put me on something else twice a day, it didnt help so, I started takein 2 celebrex a day and that helps the most... which aint much.... but thats all i have right now, I take hydrocodone for pain like 3-4 times a day when im hurtin bad.

Hi, my legs were really weak feeling a couple of days ago and then out of the blue 'it pass'. I don't know why. It sounds like you are controling the pain, but are yu taking and thing for the RA. Did I miss something? LOL, sarah, no one's going to get itred== of you, keep writing.ok!No, Im only on Celebrex thats it... and pain meds. My first appt. is on the 23rd. My family dr. says I have RA, but it has not been confirmed by a specialist. My grandpa and Uncle both had sever crippling arthritis... Nobody in my family knows what kind of arthritis it was but their hands were really crippled and my grandpa could barely walk because his knee was so bad. I told my family dr. about them and he said that they most likely did have RA. So thats all I know for now, I am so anxious to get my appt out of the way and just get to fixing whatever is wrong.  Apparently leg weakness can be part of an auto-immune disease.  I was recently diagnosed with Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease (UCTD) and it is treated the same as RA, lupus, etc. because many of the blood tests indicated a disease, but not which one(s).  For years Drs. thought my progressive left sided leg weakness (and then left sided face symptoms) were MS.  Finally a wonderful Dr. at Wake Forest did blood work and found RA type numbers.  The rheum. gave me the final diagnosis and said an auto-immune disease can cause neurologic symptoms and that's why the leg/face numbness (now moving to the right side).  I hope the Plaquenil and MTX I'm taking will stop the progression.  How long does it usually take to see a change?  Can I expect the symptoms to stop or just stop progression?  Anyone out there know?  My rheum. is good, and I have a list of questions for the next visit, but there are things I wish I knew now.  Thank you all.  Jo Jo;
I hope you are feeling better soon.
