Swelling VS Inflammation | Arthritis Information

When your fingers, or any joint swell, does that mean it is inflammed with inflammation? Or do you just retain fluid that makes them swell?

I am not really clear on this. I know my fingers swell when it is time for me to take my pred again. But they are not swelled a couple of hours after I take good ol pred.

Anyone know the answer?

When there is inflamation I'm usually lumpy around each little finger joint, there's stiffness and pain in those lumpy joints. It feels lots worse than just having big fat hands from water retention.

Hey there is no reason you can have both at once! Woo Hoo what fun.

But so far since being back on Humira and taking that pred dose pak my fingers are not that bad. I can make a closed fist on my left and a semi-closed fist on my right.

Like I said it is mostly when my pred wears off before my next dose that is when I have trouble with my fingers not bending and looking swelled.

Thanks for the replies guys.
