Pred side effects? | Arthritis Information

I'm off  methotrexate for a few weeks to see if my gi issues are caused by the med. In the meantime, I've been taking 5mg pred daily... sometimes I bump it up it bit with 1 mg tabs if I'm feeling more achey. Yesterday I got this weird bugs in my hair feeling  Nope, can't say I have had that side effect or found it listed on my side effects sheet.  Call your doc because that is an unusual one.

Hopefully that will go away shortly.

Can't say I have either Punk. Sounds strange to me too.

I do occationally have problems with my eyes that could be RA related; but they aren't predisone related. It's been about 2 years since I've taken any.

Good Luck.

I had a prednisolone injection, it releases 2.5mg a day, its only temporary as i am off the humira and have wild inflamation.( rheumy wont give anymore than that so i wont become dependant). The only effect i had from it was a mad beating heart and sickly feeling. It hasnt helped with the swelling yet.( i had the injection last thursday)

Was it injected into your "Bum"? I can't remember what they call those....but I've had fairly good success with those in the past.

I prefer the ones that they inject directly into the joint though.

Hope you're feeling better soon pin. Hang in there.

Thanks Lovie, yes it was in my bum, i have had one before and it was great, this one seems to have made things worse Aw Lisa so sorry that steroid injection isnt working for you.  The mad beating heart and the sickly feeling are normal.  I get that from the joint infections.  Bleargh.

 Whew!... it's not just me!

I've just finished reading posts to my pred queries on the ITP forum I belong to and this is what some of them are saying....

Prednisone can definitely cause dry gritty eyes and a "bugs crawling" sensation on the scalp and face. Symptoms will often be worse in the evening... which has been true for me.

One person who answered my post is on the same pred dosage as me ( 5mg). She's experienced these symptoms before and said that they've been troubling her this week.

I've checked out a number of websites but there's been no mention of these side effects. Probably only a very small percentage of people on preds  are affected that way.  Thank goodness I connected with the ITP folks... it's good to know I'm not going bonkers!
