OT, What should I tell the new heart Dr? | Arthritis Information

Hi, if anyone has time to bother with this please let me know what you would tell the news doctor? thanks, sarahI think you should tell them about all your illnesses and meds. That way they know how certain things may affect you and what drugs will interact. personally I feel you can only gain by being quite open, but that's your decision!

Definately tel him about your other health conditions and the meds you're on. So many of these meds can affect your heart so I would think it's all important for him to know. SInce you are just changing doctors with-in a practice they should have easy access to your records and I would think they have the majority of the info.

It might not be a bad idea to discuss the problems you had with the other doctor in the attempt to avoid a repeat of those problems.

Hi, my experience is that 'they protect each other' and so if I go in bad mouthing the doc #1, doc#2 (unless he doesn't like #1) will be thinking 'this woman's a nut case. So, I think I'll ignore #1 and just go straight to 'i'm looking for a new doctor, a new perspective' and now that I have a new heart valve I need a new heart doctor.

I'm trying to escape the horrors of doc #1, so bringing it all up again (anyway I only have 15 minutes with this new doc! can you believe it??) I can't imagine what I can say in 15 minutes. It is all so weird.

I just need someone to help me in case of an emergency and guide me onward about my heart. I have some questions about rapid heart beat, etc.

I'm really excited about dumping #1, though! I sure hope I run into her in the hall way or somewhere so I can say, 'I'm moving on to a diff doctor, I won't be seeeeeeing you ever again!!! Oooo, that feels good!!!

Sarah, write everything down you want to ask or know before you get there. That way you won't forget and you'll have your notes. I have found this to be helpful. Good luck......Genesis
