Weather related flares | Arthritis Information

How many people get weather related flare ups?  How many people think there is a connection between weather and flaring up?  Is it the barometric pressure?  Research I have done says weather and flares is inconclusive.  But I swear, I am better than the forecasters sometimes.  If you flare with the weather but are fine any other time (i.e. your therapy is working) does that count as still being in remission?  Or even being under control?  If I get to go off the pred do you think keeping some around for weather related flares would help at all?  I can literally feel a change in weather 2-3 days before it happens?  Do that sublte of changes really happen in out atmosphere?  I think I flare with the weather. It has been cold and rainy here and I have
not felt so well. The sun is out today and I feel better. My barometer isnt working too well, its says rain and the sun is shining and its 26 degrees centigrade.I think its great how you can tell a weather front is coming, my aunt is like that, she said she feels it in her knees.I only feel it once its here.

I think I flare some woth the weather. I live in a very wet part of the UK (Wales) and I'm on the coast. Winter is horrible due to all the rain we get. I noticed when I was on holiday on France that I felt ok in warm, sunny weather but felt worse when the temperature dropped and a storm front rolled in.

My GP is funny. He thinks I flare with the weather and tells me not to go to my appointments if it's wet or snowing - I'm meant to ring in instead.

Scattered- Wales is so lovely.what part are you in.I have only ever been to Snowdonia. You do have a lot of rain though.I definately flare with the weather.

Hey pincushion - im in Aberystwyth and it's gorgeous

Does mean we get a lot of rain though, I used to love rain but since RA I'm not so sure!

I definately flare in weather. Bad when wet, rainy and bad when really humid. I can wake up and know what kind of day it is out...Wet weather definately makes me flare.  We live in a very dry climate and the rare rain causes a lot of pain for me.

I would say I definately feel worse in  the humid weather. Summers here (I am in Queensland Australia) are very hot and humid .... blech. Cold and wet is also not good although we don't get alot of that.

Cold and humid is worse than dry and sunny.

And I don't think it's in my head! Good thread.

I feel every storm rolling in and I feel it rolling out as well. Pretty sure it is connected to barometric pressure change - especially rapid ones.

My RD is sure that weather affects his patients. The monsoon fills his office with patients in July and Aug who are hurting like crazy.Yes, yes, yes!
Lorster...r u feeling better? Did you get rid of your headache. Mine got really bad before I went to bed last night, but I'm much better today. Potty training is going great! Hope ur better too! Well, just goes to show I'm not out of my mind lol.

I just keep wondering tho, if I can consider myself in remission..when I get there...if I flare with the weather.  I've been doing well except for weather flares and still shaking off fatigue.

Grammaskittles, we are in the same area so, I think we are flaring at the same time.

Skittles I think remission is a relative thing.

I had one that lasted about 3.5 years. It really is something that you can 'declare' by yourself! I've been told by docs that I've been in remission because blood work looked normal and swelling was down - but I know if they had spent 5 minutes in my shoes they would have changed their minds really quick.

I agree with justwishing... Humid weather kills me.  I dread the summer months.. I wish it would stay between 60-70 all year long and then I think all of us who suffer from this horrible disease would get a little relief.. It's a battle for me in the summer humidity vs air condition.
