OT Ganglian Cyst a Tumor | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone, On a routine physical last week the Dr. took a look at a ganglian cyst my husband has had for a couple of mos.(below little finger 1in by1/2 in , raised 1/8th) and sent him to a surgeon for appt.today. He said it was a tumor and needed to be removed and I assume biopsied, (I didn't go with him, drats!)  Surgery scheduled for week after next on Fri. This is on the back of the hand not really near the wrist where he said most of them are. Not fluid either. Anyone ever had one of these?  Thanks for any input.....Genesis

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers

Oh genesis I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.  Please keep us posted on your husband and I hope all turns out benign.

Hi Genesis - I had a ganglion on my left hand on the palm at the bottom of my middle finger - the dr. was sure it was a ganglion so just left it and it disappeared in a while - think it took 6 months or longer but it was hard, no fluid in it so hope your husbands is the same.
Best wishes,                            Thanks You Guys, you're very sweet to think of us He has carpal tunnel, maybe it's related to that. I hope so....Genesis

Sounds like you have a very wise doctor to check things out and be sure.  Here's hoping it's just one of the lumps and bumps we get with a few years on us!

Best wishes to you both Genesis!

I'll add him to my prayer list G. Please keep us up dated on his progress.

You take care.

Thanks again all, seems my family has been real needy these past few months. Please remember my daughter with the protein in her urine, she started her second 24hr urine catch last night. The Ins. deal is a no win situation. Hopefully she will get to start her new job in 2 weeks. And my sister with RA is having a bad flare this week too. She has her arm in a sling, still has pluerisy, and breathing is very shallow.Still on 10mgs of pred though which is good for her. Has her third Remicade infusion next Thursday with Boniva. Pray it helps her this time Please.

I want to say that everyone has been so kind and supportive, even when issues weren't just about RA,it has meant a lot to me and I have learned valuable information and made new friends I will always remember.   Thanks  and God Bless You All........genesis

I had a ganglian cyst removed from my right wrist about 2 summers ago now.  Its an easy surgery normally, though mine was on the base of my wrist by a major vein and tendon but otherwise it is a very easy surgery and they did it as an outpatient.  Mine came back that it was just fluid, I hope that it is the same for you husband.  Keep us updated on how it goes. Wow, genesis, you're family sure has a lot on it's plate. I hope it's nothing
serious. genesis:

I actually had exactly the same sort of growth in my on the top and center of my right wrist. I had it removed about 14 years ago. There is still a big depression there...it's sorta cool. It was hard and nasty and painful. The doc did biopsy it and it was nothing.

I now have one on my left hand/wrist. It can change size quickly. Right now it's sort of a 'tweener. It's not huge but it sure is there and does cause a bit of pain now and then.

Never did find out what causes these but the doc who removed the first one was not concerened beyond doing the biopsy just to be safe.

Wish I could offer more details but really that is all I know. SOunds like your hubby's doc is doing it just like mine did...hopefully it goes the same way.
Don't know "nuffin" about these ganglion thingies, although I have heard of them.  Just wanted to say, I hope that the present pressure on your family eases - SOON!!!
