I have had flares including aching arms for years.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I can feel the pain in my upper arms and the large  bone that goes down the front of my forearm.  Maybe it is from my wrists and my shoulders?  Would appreciate any feedback as I am in agony again.  Susan Lee

Hi Susan,

I have had RA flares in both shoulders which made it impossible to raise my arms over my head (try getting dressed in that situation!).  I have also had upper arm pain which felt like muscle aches.  I chalked up achy muscle pain to overdoing it, but I think it was RA related.  For the shoulder pain (which could go down both arms) I went on pred then my doc sent me to Physical Therapy.  I also did water therapy at the "YWCA" which allowed me to move my shoulders again.  PT was my saving grace.  I am so sorry you are in agony...maybe you need steroids (hate pushing these things, but in a flare they do help...)

Hi Molly Bee...Thanks so much for answering and trying to help.  You are so right about steriods.  But, I am trying to get off of them because I have taken them so often that I have had all the side effects plus weight gain.  I always say I will never take them again and then the pain gets so bad that I give in.  I think my worst pain is in the long bone of the forearm.  It just aches and aches.  It maybe coming from my wrists.  I just wondered if you get that too?  I have nodules there also.  And, I have always felt that I have inflammation there too.  Thanks again for caring!

Hi Susan,

My son (12 years old) has JRA.  He has some very hard pain in his forearms.  His PRD feels it is from the arthritis in his wrists.  His wrists do ache, but the pain he gets in the forearm is much more intense.

I have Ra and also get pain in the long parts of my arms and thighs too.  Not as bad as you are getting, but I do.

feel better,

Thanks for letting me know, Pam.  I just looked up arm pain and the information agrees with your son's PRD.  And Pam, just like you, I do get the same pain in top of my thighs as well.  Thanks again for sharing your info.   I hope you and your son are having a good day!  Susan Lee

Does it almost feel bruised? when i get it i can't even bear touching it myself, let alone anyone else touching it! my aunt put my god daughter on my lap and i could have swung for he! obviously she has no idea, but its excrutiating!
