Yea! My New Knee is Here! | Arthritis Information

Well my revision surgery last week was a success.  It has been 14 yrs. so I had forgotten how painful those things can be.  But now, after being on crutches since December with the stress fracture, I should only be on those horrid things for a couple more weeks.  My knee is now full-weight bearing so now I can rehab it and get back to walking again.  The ortho had me up walking that same evening after a morning surgery and yesterday I walked 3/4 of a mile.  Still lots of pain though, but nothing I can't work out.  I really push myself hard on these rehabs after surgery.  The sooner I'm walking, the sooner the pain goes away!

Anyway, thanks everyone for all your well wishes.  My surgery couldn't have went any better.

I am glad everything went well and you are recovering well!  I wish you much luck in a speedy recovery! When i seen revision knee surgery..wow..someone else hs gone through this? My left knee replacement got loose after 7 years..It was just impossible to walk, so i had a revision, a second knee replacement..and i can bend it just like a normal person..They are just wonderful, give you your life back again, and i can even go up the stairs the faster way...Good luck to you, and elevate it when you can...and glad yu did the therapy

That's great Bing! I'm so happy to hear things went well and you will soon be up and walking normal (or at least more normal than you've known in many years, right?)

So happy for you!!

Woo Hoo, get out those dancin' shoes and start polishing.  It's almost time to go stepping out!

I hope everything continues to heal quickly and you'll be off those crutches ASAP.  Thanks for keeping us updated, because you are an inspiration for many.

So happy to hear your revision went so well.  Am going for a TKR in August and I expect to be golfing by January.  Take care. LindySo happy to hear it went well.  I'll be hoping for a speedy recovery for you. Good! I'm glad you are better already.Just a hint..it is ok to take a pain pill to do your best in rehab! No sparing the pain pills here.  I only have two days worth left though and I haven't even started PT yet.  Guess I'll have to go to my "happy place" to get through that!  Looking forward to my crutch burning party!or call in for a refill!wasn't this one more painful, like mine, because they had to chisel the old parts out? This orthopedic guy said he wasn't going to put that much glue, in case, another one is needed down the line..hope not

I got some nueropathy in foot, after this, i think it's from past back problems..The thereapist came to my house...6 times, and since this is my 3rd TKR, pretty much knew the routine...
Was it your left or right?   It was my left, so driving came sooner..I did well on Darvocet...
Best of luck to ya!

My PT will start coming to my house 3 times a week starting on Friday and I consider myself ahead of schedule on getting back on my feet.  I also run my CPM all night long and am up to 90 degrees on that now.  It is my left leg so driving will come soon.

YAY!! Binge has a new knee... Binge has a new knee!! Say good-bye to those crutches and hello Knee!!

I am glad the surgery and everything went well. I am soo happy for you. Now you can make those trips to Freak-Mart and be able to stand in those LOOOONG lines to check-out

Oh yeah... yesterday when we went to Freak-Mart, my daughter noticed that a bird made a nest in the "A" in Mart on the light up sign on the building. There were baby birdies in the nest. I might take a picture of it when we go back for gorceries and post the pic, if the nest and birds are still there.

I know that CPM machine...this orthopod didn't use them, nor did he make me donate blood pre-surgery..They all have differant ways..i think my new prostetic is longer too...
With the thing loose, i was actually walking with my leg sideways, so it's just wonderful how they fixed me up now..How many days were u in the hospital?..Did they give u the Lovenox shots, for blood clots...aren't they fun?

The stem in my new prosthesis was longer to cover the fracture just below my knee.  This was the reason he did the revision because my bone wasn't healing fast enough and I'd have been on crutches for another 6 mos.  When he pulled out the old prosthesis he said that it was in bad shape so that doing the revision now wasn't a bad thing, it would be soon anyway.  I was in the hospital Tues-Fri.  I didn't get the Lovenox shots this time but I did when I had the cervical fusion in January.  This time I'm on Coumadin and I hate it.  I cut myself shaving this morning and it took me 2 hrs to stop bleeding.  I told that to the home health nurse and she said my blood had probably gotten too thin and would check it tomorrow, just don't cut a finger off or anything till then!

The next day, they make u get up, and it wasn't happening, and they were ready to ship me off to a 2 week stint at rehab place..But i was so drugged up, and wasn't prepared for a rehab place, and besides i thought they meant nursing home!..So since, they made me bring my pills to show them, they added my Darvocet, to the other goodies, and , voila, i was walking with the wonderful walker, and bust out of there in 3 days..Of course, the nurse came to home a couple times, but since we know the routine, we must be easy...It was on Dec 8, and they wouldn't let me travel far for Christmas that year.
BTW...i had a very succesful cerical fusion in '91, or i would have lost the use of my arm..
Too many surgeries, the feet too...but RA is in a controlled remission now with Humira, after 12 years
