I have been seeing some improvement in my health over the last month or so. However, last Monday I received my second IV infusion the things went down hill. I had some sort of reaction to it and spent 8 hours barfing. The next day, last Tuesday, I was tired and so on and just not right. By Thursday, the migrain set it. Friday night, I laid in bed trying to cry because it hurt so much but not being able to get enough air into my lungs.
I think the barfing sent my costo in a major flare. The back of my neck, like really high up, at the base of my skull also hurt so bad, I could not even move my head. My low back was also in severe pain. My legs, from the hips down were on FIRE, like my bones were burning.
I drove myself to the er Saturday morning, the guy was an idiot. I told him I need a toradol shot, a steroid injection and something for nausea. Ok, three shots in the but later and a script for 80mg of steroids tapering down to 10 over 7 days. I go home and try to lay down.
We had planned a party for Sunday. So, we had my 3 good girlfriends over, Wills cousin and wife with their 3 kids and a friend of Wills, his wife and their 2 kids. I was in SOOO much pain. I doubled up on the pain meds, and tried to be as social as possible.
It was really hard because I was in so much pain, I just couldn't deal with anything else. However, the two wives of Wills friends both had new born babies, one was 3 weeks the other 7 weeks. My other girlfriend is 7.5 pregnant at the moment and than there were three other kids running around.
I was trying to have a good time, tried to have a drink but everyone just kept talking about babies. Ok, I try to smile and go with it. They were talking about names and I told them the names of my twins and the one girl was like why on earth would you name something that didn't exist? WTF!!! I explain as calmly as possibly that they were 15 weeks old and that they did exist and were loved every much.
Over the next few hours, I realized what a mean person this gal was through different comments about the size and lack of quality furnishings in my house, the fact that we had only one bathroom, oh what kind of watch did a wear because hers was a Rolex and so on and so on.
So, they finally leave and Wills cousin leaves with his family and I try to enjoy myself but the pain keeps getting worse and worse. Finally around 10pm, I had to go in and lay on the couch with the ice packs and more pain pills.
I have been dx with some mild neuropathy but this burning pain was much different. It was worse in my low back and hips and went down to my feet. I felt like my bones were on fire. I could not breath. I hurt so bad.
My friends and hubby stayed and partied for a couple of hours longer outside on our porch, than clean up before they left but I felt like such a party pooper but I was just in so much pain. I did not even get out of bed yesterday.
I still hurt really bad today, you would think three days at 80mg prednisone would help by now. I can not believe I have to be at the office when I feel this bad.

Your guest sounds like a real witch. Some people say the stupidest things! Don't worry about it.....it only makes her look rediculous and I hope your other guest noticed as well.

I think a pity party is a good thing once in awhile. I'll bring the chips and salsa, and we will just relax, and eat, and not worry about a thing.
Michelle you need a medal for still throwing the party in the first place and a bigger medal for not throwing the stuck up woman out of your house. What a horrid thing to say about your babies.It doesnt matter what stage of your pregnancy you are at, they are little babies no matter what.I am really sorry you are having a bad time, it sounds like a major flare on top of everything else. I had a predsilone injection two weeks ago and have been ill ever since, nausea, pain,terrible swelling, its been hell too so i really sympathise with you.

Look at that person and know in your heart you are a kind, loving, caring, special person and not a self centered shallow witch like her. Thank you girls. I just need the pain to stop, I need to be able to breath. When I get real bad like this, I just can not deal with anything else. I hope all the people that come into the office today are cool or I just may have a total meltdown. Its sucky enough to feel this bad but then to have to come to work on top of it, one a whooping dose of steroids, argh. Oh michelle, I am so sorry you are feeling miserable! Jerk, or self-centered doesnt beging to describe your "guest". It's amazing how callous people can be. Sounds like a trip to your rheumy is in order. I hope you find relief soon. And what's up with the Rolex. My friend has a Rolex and I wear a .00 watch from Walmart. Why is my watch always right and his always wrong?

I haven't a clue, she is a layer, her hubby an engineer, they live in a 4,800 sq foot home in one of the most expensive neighborhoods. Our house was built in 1922, is just over a 1000 sq feet. I answered her watch question with, I do not know, a pretty shiny one my husband got for me for Christmas??!!Wow...your guest was pretty insensitive! Why don't people think before they speak.

Thanks girls, I called the pain doctor and she is going to up the water pills to see if that helps with the swelling. She is also going to check with the University of Mi to see if she can get me in sooner and call my rheumy and see if there is anything else they can do in the meantime.Obviously that woman is someone with newly acquired money. Nobody "born" into money would ever act that way!

Number 1: If your house was built in 1922, it has 1000x more character than her house no matter what the size. Hers is probably all decorated to within an inch of its little concrete life. It's probably a gorgeous 'house', it is definitely not a 'home'. (It couldn't be a home if 'she' lives in it.
Number 2: Bought potato salad looks just as good turned on a bitches head as home made potato salad does.
Number 3: If she caters parties, she is a lousy cook. No self respecting person with the gift of entertaining friends caters anything less than a 25th anniversary party or a wedding. Opening your door to caterers is not the same as opening your heart to friends.
Number 4: She has obviously never 'lost' anything of true value (like a baby). True things of value cause heart pain which she will probably never know because she obviously doesn't have a heart.
Number 5: I hope your pain settles soon. I have never had anything as bad as what you are describing, my heart goes out to you. You were incredibly brave to throw a party in your state and you deserve kudos not kaka.
Sorry for the rant but I think I used to work with the nasty biatch or her evil twin. It just struck a chord.

I'm so sorry you've been having so much pain and that you were treated this way. It never ceases to amaze me the insensitivity of some people. You've been through so much, and then to have to put up with crap like that, I just wish your husband would've kicked them all out and let you get some rest.
Next time you have a party, if you're feeling like this, call them up and tell them you just can't do it. If they don't understand that's their problem. I hope you feel better soon. I'm praying for you.
People still make their own potatoe salad? Geesh, my kids were raised on the store bought kind and drive-thru...and believe me if you have to brag about a watch, that is pretty bad I always thought they were to tell you what time it was.............! I agree, she is a "new" money person. My attorney does not haev a Rolex I will tell you that, oh, she has money, she just doesn't stoop to brag it is all. Always remember, people who "have a lot of money" don't typically brag.
Annnnd another thing!!!!!!!!!Glad she is an attorney cause she keeps up those comments she will most likely need an attorney someday! Shallow, shallow, shallow! She is certainly not what you would call a friend.

I HAD A REACTION FROM REMICADE ON MY VERY FIRST INFUSION INCLUDING HIVES ALL OVER AND THE SWELLING EVEN MY EARS SWELLED I ALSO HAD A PITY PARTY TOO. THE INCREASED STERIODS REALLY HELPED. THE ONLY THING WAS MY RASH TOOK ALONG TIME TO CLEAR UP BUT I CAN LIVE WITH THAT. DO NOT WORRY THAT DRUG IS THE NASTIEST I THINK FOR THAT KIND OF BAD REATION IT IS BECAUSE IT IS NOT ONLY HUMAN DNA BUT ALSO THEY USE MICE DNA MY RHUEMY SAID THAT IS WHAT PEOPLE ARE USUALLY ALLERGIC TOO..GOOD LUCK....TERESA

First - Michele - that woman is not too bright or she would know what she said was making an ass of herself. I sure hope she didn't get to you as you are so much better than her. I loved your answer to the watch - your watch, a gift from your hubby - is so much more valuable.
I hate it when I have to be around people when I am in pain. It is so hard to put on that facade- spellin?? That is why I have tended to isolate myself since this disease. I also always say to invites, can I tell you the day before, as I do not know how I will be feeling, I also warn them that the day of I might not wake up well so everyone pretty much knows they cannot depend on me.
I hope you are feeling better. I have been wanting to have a house warming party, just family, but it seems overwhelming. I would definitely hit the deli at Safeway and do potluck

OMG!! When me and hubby were in California last October, we went to visit my brother and went for a train ride to Oregan for the USC VS OSU anyways... we had dinner with a bunch of rich folks, because that is who my brother rolls with is rich folks. Anyways this one guy was passing around a Rolex watch for the people at the table to look at. It was his "old" Rolex and he had a more expensive one on his arm. He told my brother he could borrow it if he ever wanted to. Well, when it got around to me and hubby, we were not impressed. It just looked like a watch. Of course the watch's value would have equaled 2 years of hubby working, but it was just overkill on paying that much for a watch.
Oh and the whole time we were around those rich folks, they kept complimenting my hubby on his watch, this was before the rolex ordeal, and asked where he got it because they would like to have one and hubby would tell them wal-mart and they would say something like you are kidding me. He was say nope paid for it. They were like I would have thought you paid well into the 100's for that. too funny I thought....hahahahaaaaa
