and increase my mtx dose? wouldnt you think she would first increase the mtx.dose before adding another drug? she said the mtx just wasnt doing it. i was on .4ml inj. now just increased to .6ml inj. than she gave me a rx. for 50mg enbrel 1x/week. i sure wish i could do well just on mtx. like some of you:(

I would say she probably doesnt think your RA is controllable with just MTX. What did she say when you asked her?
All side effects are scary. I wish we could do without them but they are a fact of life with any medication. Infection is the biggest worry. Your Lymphoma risk is higher simply due to having RA. The entire story is still out on other cancers. There is no clear evidence of an increase in cancers other than skin cancers but the affect of the enbrel on cases of other types cancers has not been studied well as of yet
Maybe also keep in mind that the dmards and the biologics often work better hand in hand too.
