Traveler Quarantined for TB | Arthritis Information

Does this make anyone else just furious that this guy traveled oversees while knowingly having TB?  Not just any form, but drug-resistant.

So many of us on this board are on Humaria or other forms of biologicals which carry a specific warning about TB.  In fact, I have heard we should not even be around someone who has had a TB vacince for at least two months after they receive it since the vaccine has a mild live form of TB and we can get it.

I am all for individual rights but not to the point that you may be seriously harming others.

I was just wondering what other people thought.

Some people are amazingly selfish.

I didn't know you were even allowed to travel overseas if you have TB.  Wow.  Did the guy wear a face mask at all?  That is pretty selfish to travel with a highly communicable disease and not take any precautions.

Also we have to be careful of people coming from some other countries and going to other countries because it requires immunizations and some of them are live.  From what I understand, we can't even be around a person that has had a live vaccine for like a week or so.  And anyone on dmards or biologics can't have live immunizations either.

I was just reading the article about it and it said that his dr said that travel isnt advisable.  He was soposed to give himself up to Italian officials to quarentine there but instead flew to Canada and snuck into the US that way...This man was just thinking of himself. I didnt hear what country he was from. Was he from Italy or was he an american?

I heard yesterday in the news that there was some kind of skin infectious breakout in Chicago that was resistant to drugs. I think they said it was a staph infection.
I hope this is treated as a crime and he is prosecuted to the max! To knowingly put so many people in jeopardy is inexcuseable. Wonder if this is another deranged "terriorist" who wants to take out as many innocent people as he can? I wouldn"t be surprised......GenesisI saw this on the news last night and it made me furious.  The guy KNEW he had drug resistant tb, was told NOT to travel by his doctor.  Not only did he fly cross atlantic and back but didn't even bother to wear a mask.  I have no compassion for people like this, he should be treated like a murderer!

I wonder if the guy can be charged with like reckless endangerment.  Can you imagine the amount of people he has endangered?  Is it coming to that we are the ones that have to wear masks if we travel?  And break out the sanitizing wipes to wipe down airplane seats etc?

i believe he was an american, when he entered the US from canada via New York the CDC sent him to Atlanta.  I really hope they decide to charge him..To me its no different than those people who willingly infect others with the HIV. they get prosectuted and so should this guy. Question is - where did HE get it from???

He aparantly got it from travels into Asia to perform fundraising for the *hospital* he works for.

Interesting that he worked for a hospital and he didn't know enough not to travel with what he knew at the time to be antibotic resistant TB.

The guy said he felt fine so he thought it wasn't serious. He went to Europe
to get married. I wonder what his bride thinks now?

He went all over Europe, apparently traveling in many small planes too. They
say the short hops aren't as serious as the transalantic flights because of the
lenght of time.

Then when he knew he did wrong, he snuck to Canada on a odd ball airline.
Obviously our terrorist set up isn't working or he would have been caught at
the border.

Hi Rose, Scabies  is the condition caused by a tiny bug called a mite which causes extreme itching. It is very contagious and usually makes it's way around the schools every year. They burrow under the skin and their excrement is what causes the itch. Disgusting huh? Here in N.C. you have to get a script from the Dr. with pyrethene (sp) in it and anyone who has shared things, like beds, brushes, clothing, etc... have to be treated  with it. Kinda like head lice I think.

Also all bedding and clothes and personal items need to be cleaned with something that kills this "bug" but I'm not sure what. Somebody help here.  It's been a long time since my kids were small so maybe they've come up with something newer to treat this with, tell your friend to google it or go to the Dr. ... Good luck....Genesis
