My feet are on FIRE!!! | Arthritis Information

Does this happen to others.  It is usually at night, and is becoming more prevelent.  I have had PA for 4 years and this was one of my early symptoms but it went away i as started medications, but now it is returning with a vegence.  Nothing i have works on taking away the pain, usually try vicodin.  A cold wet towel helps but the pain always comes back.

Anyone else experience this?  any sugestions, whenever i have mentioned to RH he brushes it off as a mild flare up, but it is getting worse and really effecting my sleep, (like a need something else to stop me from sleeping).

Thanks

KT

Hi, yes I had that 'burning' last week. I was playing golf (after 4 months not being able too) and fortunately took a 'riding' cart. I got to the 16th hole and my left foot was cramppy and buring. I had to quit playing, just ride along without touching anything (took a pain pill), and made it home. I showed my doctor where it was and he said, 'the remicade' will fix that!!....it hasn't been back,(took 20mgs MTX yesterday!) but I'm going to try to play golf tomorrow and I hope it doesn't happen again. (P.S> I got some new summer sandles, with hard soles and center toe strap?? wondering if wearing them caused this? I stopped wearing them. Who knows? Sarah

WOW you play golf.  I cannot tell you how happy i would be to even think i will play golf again.

Noticed you are on remicade how long?  just wondering if it could be the cause.  I gave up MTX a couple of months ago due to the side effects.

Thanks for the reply

Hi, i hope you can play golf again, too. My doc says the Remicade and MTX work together to help me! (sorry yu had to give up on it)sarahclufus:

I too get this with my RA...nothing much helps but rest. I also find that Blue Relief or Blue Emu can help in the short term while I wait for the extra Vicodin to get to work.

Something I did about a year ago to help stave off the feet burning thing was switch back to the shoes I wore as a kid. Went back to the real Earth Shoes (with the Kalso negative heal and not the el cheapo's the sell via Wallyworld.) I was amazed how much they help. I rarely have a problem these days with burning feet. I guess there must be something in how the design fits my foot, distributes weight and affects circulation that makes them work for me.

Gawd I miss my forged S2H2 irons...I used to play 4-8 round/week. See one of my clients was a golf course so when I had nothing to do I simply went to the course for the day. But even the thought makes my hands hurt now...good for you...just remember to never be "...right of something nobody was ever left of before..." wink-wink...hehehehehe...Have you ever had a Lyme test???

Clufus, it sounds like nerve pain to me.  I take Lyrica for that and it's worked wonders.  On the Lyrica website, they have a little quiz to assess your pain (link below).  Maybe you should fill that out and take it to your doctor and see what he says, because he sounds like he's not taking it seriously.

The burning can be a sign of neuropathy, we ai people seem to be more prone to neuropathies.  I get it in my hands and feet a lot but just last week it has been starting in my hips and going all the way down my legs, very painful.  Have you ever tried lidoderm patches?  Its a rx patch that has lidocaine in it and it helps to numb the affects area.  They don't help my hips much, too much fat there I guess but they do help my hands and feet!
