In October of 2006 i had joint pain on my shoulders, knees, wrist and feet.  I went to family doctor got a test and test moderate positive for rheumatoid arthritist (It was anti ccp test not RA test)  My joints hurt in the mornings the most, but the pain went away in January of 2006 and came back in March 2007.  The first RA specialist said i only had flu like symtoms and did not diagnose me because of no redness or swelling.  She did run other test and i tested positive to fifth disease.  I went to get another opinion and they told be that i tested negative, but if the joint pain comes back to go back.  RA and oteoparosis does run in my family.

My question is: Should I worry??  Just wait until i get pains again??

Very confused since the family doctor did seemed concerned and said that its good they caught it on time, but the specialist will not go by that test (Anti CCP).

Anyone, please help...Veronica

Welcome to AI Veronica!

I would definetly get to another RD. A lot of people her have gone through 2-3 RD's until they were listened to. The sooner you can get treatment for RA the better. Keep us posted!

Oh man, time for a second opinion from another rheumatologist. If you in
fact have RA, which the anti ccp is quiet conclusive, you should be started
on DMARDS. As stated numerous times on here, redness and swelling do
not coorelate with damage. Please get back in to see someone else, in a
different clinic. Ask around and see if you can get the name of a reputable
doctor that you can trust and will listen to your complaints. It is important
that you act quickly to avoid any further problems. This is a very
unpredictalbe disease and one that should be treated agressively. Good luck
and keep us posted. Oh, and welcome to the board

take care

Hi and Welcome Veronica, we seem to be hearing this a lot lately where people are hurting , have the same symptoms we have and nothing is done for them.  I like the idea of seeking out another RA, sometimes you just aren't connecting! If you have pain and your family history points to this dang stuff you do need to be treated. We've all been through this so don't be too discouraged. This disease is difficult to figure out, the treatment isn't easy even if you have a great and understanding doctor, but the first step is to find someone who listens to you. SarahHi Veronica! I agree with the others. Find a new doctor ASAP. Any rheumatologist worth his/her salt knows that RA presents in many different ways, and once the damage is visible, it's done. You can't undo it. There's no reason why you should continue to suffer, when there are treatments that work. Your GP is right to be concerned. RA can be hard to diagnose, but you're a classic case. Thank you all for posting.  Today my wrist started to hurt just a little nothing big.  I will take your advice and see another rheumatalogist.  I know that some drs don't take the blood test seriously, but everything i read about the Anti CCP is that it detects the disease early.
