It has been very warm and humid the last few days. I found out this weekend our air conditioner does not work. I hope it is covered by the home warranty. Anyway, lots of joint aches, painful wrists and hands. I thought Oregon did not get hot
I was up all night with my puppies crying. I am making them sleep in a kennel I don't know Roxy. Warm weather makes my hot flashes worse, that's for sure. I live in Florida where the humidity is really high in the summer, but I don't think I hurt worse then, than I do in the winter when the humidity is low. I visit Oregon alot, and in the winter, when I get a chill, it seems like I hurt alot more than usual.
The wet weather bothers my joints, but not the heat. I am turning bright red and splotchy after only a short time outside. My toes and fingers look like raspberry popsicles - kind of creepy. Goes with my blue, swollen veins very nicely. Kind of a patriotic theme. I think it is the heat rather than sun. Gotta ask about it at my next appt.

Can you put the puppies kennel in your room? That way when the whining starts up you can nip it in the bud with a firm no. My dog is kennel trained and it just took a couple of nights of saying no for him to get used to his kennel. I also spent a great deal of time getting up with him in the middle of the night when he would whine to take him potty. When they are little guys they just don't have the capacity to hold it all night. Once they are used to the kennel and they whine...that means out time. Until they are used to the kennel...take them every few hours to potty at night. Then they go right back in the kennel. Eventually their kennel becomes their "den" and they will go in and out of it all the time on their own.
The humidity raises heck with my ra too. For me, it takes me a little bit to adjust to the humidity. Once I do, the flares from the weather are not that bad.

I still have my sweetheart weimeraners but they need running. Brett is coming up for a visit and they are going to be in heaven.
I got the pups as I spend so much downtime. The weims hurt me when they lean on me and the puppies comfort me. They are hard to housetrain as it is hard for me to not sleep with them. I am just sick of picking up all the poop, so the kennel it is. I was so angry today, they made it through the night, went poop outside but later, Foxy still went inside
I am so uncomfortable in the heat. I think it will be fine once we get a/c fixed. It is central air so I am pretty sure house warranty will cover it.
Yes...it is the worse when it is warm. Maybe because I am bordeline for Lupus and it doesn't tolerate warm weather well.
I feel swollen and I hurt when it is hot and humid. If it is not a lot of moisture in the air...I do pretty good.
I live in the desert southwest and near the coastline. When we get the fog/clouds moving in from the ocean, I hurt. I will hurt until midafternoon as the fog has burnt off by then. I do so much better in a dry heat than in a moist heat. Don't think that I would do well in a cold damp climate. So, yes, when the sun is out, I will hurt.
Heat dont seem to bother me unless its raining and humid... The cold kicks my butt though...For me, there doesn't seem to be any connection with my RA and the weather.
I think Marisa and I live fairly close to each other. We, also, have usually dry heat, but this time of year, when the marine layers make their appearance, it really hurts!
The cold or damp absolutely make me hurt much more. I'm usually better than the local weatherman; I can tell if rain is coming 2 days before it shows up
Roxy,I hope those pups don't wear you out too much. They sound like a handful. But I know how you love critters. Especially the snuggly ones. Are you going to be able to keep the weims? Just be careful, Sweetie. Don't want them to hurt you.
Take care
Gentle hugs,
Nini
I have always been so hot natured and lived for the fall and winter to come. But since having symptoms beginning this past Jan, I'm not sure how the heat will be on my joints, but with living in Texas, I hope I don't have that problem as well. I know the rain and humidity get to me. And now if a cool breeze passes over me, it goes straight to the bone!!Nini, I think you and I live about 30 miles apart. Like you, I'm a good weatherman. This coastal fog/ marine layer does a real job on my joints.
Can't wait until the hot sunny weather comes.
I have no answers here myself. I've heard so many different things pertaining to the weather. Cold is bad, humidity is bad, warm is good blah blah blah. Perhaps the weather is different with each on of us as the disease is...I really don't know. I'm in Central Florida and have yet to figure out if the weather has anything to do with how I feel. It could be cold and rainy and I'm okay....Hot and sunny and I'm all jacked up. When someone finds the perfect climate for those of us with RA please let us know and we'll start our lown ittle community called hmmm.... Rheumaville "Where Life is Good Every Day"!
Peace & Love.....Neasy
The hot weather does seem to make mine worse--especially if it's humid. I swell up something awful when it's hot....but how the heck do I know if I'm just retaining water or if it's the RA? My joints hurt...but I guess I'm not sure how it's all related...
Anybody know of a place where the weather is 75 to 80 dry degrees all year??????????
That would be a perfect place for our "house".
