Has anyone with RA also had dental implants?  If so, what was the healing like?  Did they work out for you?  Am considering trying to replace some missing teeth because partial denture is out of the question in my case.

Many thanks, Sarana

Hi Sarana, I had a couple of them done with no problems.  They are pricey though, however I love them.

Sarana,

How long have your teeth been missing?  I am getting a dental implant very soon but the tooth was missing for so long that I had to have a tissue graft as well as a bone graft.

Now & then,

That's great!  Which teeth did you have replaced?

Many thanks for your reponse.

kweenb,

My teeth have been missing for a while - 2 back upper molars.  That is one thing I'm concerned about - needing tissue/bone grafts first before the implants.  Also, I hear the upper jaw is harder to place implants in because of the sinuses & the failure rate is higher.

Thanks, Sarana

Sarana,

I heard that about the upper jaw implants too.  I also heard some people have to get a sinus lift as well.  The one I'm having replaced is in the lower jaw.  Actually, I don't know yet if I will be able to get one.  It just depends on how well the bone graft takes.  I hope it takes - the cost of the tissue graft, bone graft, and now the braces to straighten a tooth by the empty space has been very expensive already!  I hate to be out all that money.

Both of them are in my upper jaw.  I waited about 8 months before I had them done. The 1st procedure was putting a screw?  into the bone and then waiting for it to heal which took 4/5 months and then the tooth was put in place.
Good luck with yours Sarana.
