Can’t squeeze.... | Arthritis Information

My hands. Like, I can't grip anything tight. I can hardly make a fist either. It's SO painful. This is day FOUR of this!!! (and it probably didn't help that I made a 12" CAKE fully decorated for my baby's birthday....yup, squeezed icing bags! Or rather, had people do it for me....I couldn't!!)

Ugh. I haven't been able to get my wedding rings in DAYS. I forced my ring on SUnday afternoon for the baby's party, but it came off the instant people left. My shoes came off after 30 minutes too (they were a GORGEOUS pair of new heels. *drools over shoes*)

I'm a swollen mess! My wrists! I had to ADD TWO Links to my watch yesterday....and even still it's tight. Plus it's painful on my wrist, so I can't even wear the blasted thing.

My knee has been "clicking" for nearly a month. I mentioned it to the OLD RD two weeks ago, and he was like "Oh, thats nothing to worry about". Um, okay. It sounds AND feels like bone on bone. It hurts like the dickens!!! Of course this is the Dr who told me he thinks Lidoderm patches are just a "fad" and a "waste of money", and that he doesn't prescribe them.
so yeah. I don't see another RD until August 1st. I'm done with the old one, he just doesn't think I hhave anything really wrong with me. Just unexplained "polyarthralgia & Fibro".

*bangs head on desk* I did manage to throw a kick-butt birthday party for the baby last weekend though! I'm just PAYING for completely overdoing it. I have no intention of going anywhere all week. Counting down until the kids go to grandma's next weekend for TEN days!!!!!!!!!! Party time!!! lol

The clicking sound your knee is making indicitive of some issues you should have looked at.  Given your history of skating etc., there is probably fluid on it.  I don't want to scare you, but I am going to be honest with you.  Whenever my knee would click I knew I tore my cartilege.  And you have a real good history of where that could be possible for you.

You need to something about the inflammation in your hands and wrists.  I know you can't do pred, but call your doc and see what they say.

I am sorry you are feeling so bad but the party sounds wonderful!

To be honest, I haven't been able to wear my wedding ring in almost 2 years, heels, not a chance, its velcro grandma shoes and I am 38.  Make a fist?  Laughs, can barely hold a toothbrush. Hi there. Newbie, but Oldie from early last year. Anyway I added my 2 cents then about the same problems w/ the hands. At 46 I already have some malformation going on in one hand. 3 surgeries to correct, bla bla bla. Instant relief for me can be as easy as contrast baths. Fill your sinks, one w/ as hot of water as you can stand and the other w/ ice water. Put your hand in as long as you can handle one temp, then go to the other. I do it for about 10 min. and always feel better after. Course I take pain meds first. Hope you feel better soon. I also have done contrast in the shower for my lower back when it was really bad. Little more uncomfortable for the rest of the body, but it did work. I hope you took lots of pictures! Can you call the new Rheumy's office and ask them to call you if they have a cancellation? It sounds like you probably way overdid it for the beautiful party and are paying now. Hopefully it won't last. Have you tried a paraffin bath? They feel wonderful. I cannot do ice on my hands due to Raynaud's. [QUOTE=owiedeb]I hope you took lots of pictures! Can you call the new Rheumy's office and ask them to call you if they have a cancellation? Yeah, I have the paraffin bathh running 24/7..I dip 3-4 times a day. It's OK, but it doesn't help past the first 3 minutes....once the heat wears off, all bets are off.

I am on te cancellation list at the new RD. Problem is, they COULD have gotten me in next week, but we are without kids, and part of DH and I's "break" means NO Drs visits unless it's an emergency. I think he's taking me out of town but keeping it a secret...cause he was so "no drs visits that week!"

Liz, I don't know WHAT they could give me. I can't do prednisone, nothing stronger than Ibprofen as far as NSAIDs go, I can't take Celebrex...I'm not ready for anything stronger than my percocet....so I just don't know. *sighs*

Of course it doesn't help today that I have a wicked headache!!! LOL.

Oh, Liz, yeah, it does sound like that....Is it bad that I"m just ignoring it for the moment because I do NOT want to go to a Dr for 3 weeks??? I just want a break from icky nasty Drs offices. *sighs* I'm so pathetic!!! (I will say, I haven't been to a Dr in a week, it's been nice! lol)
Midge,  Do you mind me asking how much percocet you take?  I am getting concerned as it doesn't always cut the pain now.  Did you build a tolerance?  What mg. are yours and how many do you take a day.  If this is too personal, plz let me know.  Hope you feel better soon and hubby has a RELAXING vacation planned for you.  [QUOTE=roxy]Midge,  Do you mind me asking how much percocet you take?  I am getting concerned as it doesn't always cut the pain now.  Did you build a tolerance?  What mg. are yours and how many do you take a day.  If this is too personal, plz let me know.  Hope you feel better soon and hubby has a RELAXING vacation planned for you.
3-4 a day.....so, probably not that much. I try to keep it to 2, and then take two vicodin when I go to bed....just depends. Lately though, I need all 4. *sighs* This rainy weather is kicking my butt!!! The last two weeks have been KILLER down here in Texas!!

I don't think I've built up a tolerance....my pain is just getting worse....I don't understand it. I'm SO frustrated!! my Cymbalta is NOT helping my pain levels!!!
