I spend a lot of time reading about RA and researching this beast. I received this book for free from www.arthritistrust.org

I don't think I was "ready" to read this book when I received it. Since I have been having some success at Dr.Mercola's center, I am in a better place. The book is very interesting and it is free..so I wanted to recommend it to anyone that is not happy with the conventional treatments. I can finally say that I can feel my body healing. I am still on Enbril and Imuran but I am off of Planquenil and Prednisone.

I also like to spend some time researching the varouis treatments for RA. I think the Johns Hopkins site has a wealth of information concerning RA.

Gena -

Congrats on your success!

Have you seen the "Essential Fatty Acids Are Essential" page at the Arthritistrust?  There's research that shows combining a sulfurated protein (yogurt or cottage cheese) with flaxseed oil can help build glutathione in the brain.  Glutathione is the bodies master detoxifier and we with chronic diseases are usually really low on it.  It's slow, usually a 6 month thing to rebuild, but it's Nobel prize nominated research.  I just started back on it as I now have a refrigerator.

Pip,

Just had my breakfast. I make a smoothie with my Vita-Mix,,Yogurt, fresh berries, frozen berries, tsp. of flax oil and 1/2 scoop of Robbs Egg White Protein. Fills me up for hours!!

What Vita-Mix?  Where do you get it?  According to the research it's 1 TLBS per 100 lbs of body weight on the flaxseed oil.

I couldn't stand the yogurt but when I switched to the cottage cheese I was much happier.  Your recipe sounds delish tho - maybe I'll try again.

:-)

There are some GREAT articles on that site! Love it!Glad you are progressing Gena - am watching with interest.   Can you buy hempseed oil in health stores in the U.S.   Think it may be higher in omega 3s than flaxseed oil.   As I have mentioned before a dr. who is a researcher at our local hospital said for RA, cut all dairy and get Vit D.
He lectures on diet and seemed to be very pro a healthy diet.

I was told to add 1 tsp flax oil to each of my meals. In addition I am taking 2 capsules of Krill Oil daily. I take a Pro-Biotic everyday and digestive enzymes after I eat "cooked" food. No other supplements or vitamins at the present time. So far...so good.

The Vita-Mix 5000 Total Nutrition Center is my blender. I pined after it for many years and finally saw it at Costco and bought it. It was not cheap. It is industrial strength..they use them at Jamba Juice. I make all of my dressings..it emulsifies beautifully. Can you tell I use to work in a test kitchen??? I find blenders very exciting!! I make all kinds of soups in there as well and my smoothies..it comes with a cookbook.

Highly reccommend it!!
