Well, there's about 1,000,000 articles about this new scientific
breakthrough, but just in case you managed to miss them all:

it will be very interesting to follow this developement to see where it leads

genetic  medicine  is  the  hope   to  end  arthritis  pain  and  stem  cell  research...  heres  hoping  new  meds  come  before   2017

I mean  real medicine  not  this  hope  and  pray  stuff  we  have  now.

I  also hope  that  one   day  joint  replacments  can be  so  well done  that  they last  for  35  years  and  offer  full mobility.

more  research  is  needed  and  fast...

Did you hear today's news that researchers have been able to create mouse embryonic stem cells from ordinary skin cells?  If this can be done with human cells, it opens the door for stem cell research without any of the controversy previously associated with this research.  How exciting is this????  It could be the answer so many people are waiting for.But I thought science could already do a lot of stem cell research and
therapy without using embryonic stem cells. Is it one of those controversies
where the Emporer wears no clothes? (I'm not saying it it, since I don't know
much about stem cell research---I'm just wondering).

All the current success stories are coming from adult stem cells

NOT embryonic.

16 months post stem cell and still RA free.  (still have damage from 15 years of severe RA but I can live with it and my fingers are actually starting to straighten on there own)

Hope to hear from doctors in August that tissue is rebuilding.  Keep your fingers crossed.  No pun intended.

Yet this research still remains something that is a huge topic of debate that the current government refuses to support.

The possibilities are endless...just endless.

I really hope things are still going well for you and your tissue is rebuilding.  Please keep us updated.  You are truly a miracle and inspire hope in all of us.  On top of that, you are just the nicest sweetest person!!

Thanks for the info!  Love how everyone here shares the news!

Stemcell4me can you tell us more about your experience?  I for one would love to read more.  Sounds like you're doing great...I'll certainly keep my fingers crossed for you.

Peace & Love....Neasy

Neasy,

My stem cell transplant is not mainstream medicine because the procedure is tough much like a bone marrow transplant.  Only 1% of the population will be so severe that they are left with no options but stem cell. For me it was a matter of QOL and horrific pain and damage.

I only tell my story because with each candidate they improve the procedure. I recently had joint assessment from doctor with no active RA.  It has been that way since the procedure but I have had to battle all the side effects of chemo which is part of procedure for auto immune diseases.

I am one of the success stories but there are some that don't fair so well.  It is a gamble and I was willing to roll the dice.  I can say I am very happy my worked out and I continue to improve even with the setbacks.  Nothing is worse than being bedridden and in pain 24/7.

Why is it that backwards ignorant folk are so healthy that they can't be motived to take a 2nd hard look at something like stem cell research.

The umbilical cord is full of the right kind of cells. Who in their right mind would object to putting medical waste to good use, once the baby is born.

Nancy Reagen sure changed her mind once her beloved husband got sick. I wish more folks could understand that stem cells do not have to come from a fetus anymore.

I wonder what we could do for burn victims if we could grow skin for them that would match perfectly. Science to save lives - not to make war!

LuAnn thank you...I'll certainly go do some reading.  I'm glad it's been a positive experience for you and I hope it continues to be.  I too would be willing to take that gamble if the opportunity was presented.

Marian...I don't know if they're that healthy or just plain greedy.  Our country makes billions off of medications and healthcare.  Come up with a cure or a way to drastically reduce those medications and they are shall we say "Gonna Buck".  I think it's absolutely disgusting myself that money money money is more important than good health.  In my opinion, countries that provide healthcare for their citizens are going to be the ones looking for the cures most aggressively as it would actually save them money.  That being said...boy don't even think about going to another country for those kinds of treatments...if my memory serves me right Christopher Reeve was threatened with arrest if he did it.  Arrest for trying to better your health and quality of life....that's just obnoxious.

Peace & Love...Neasy

LuAnn,

I have just finished reading your journal.  How brave of you, no matter if this was an only option, it was still very brave. I can tell that you were afraid at times but still committed to having this turn out well. I'm so happy for you and for your family that it did.

Thanks for sharing the story. It may give hope to someone who otherwise would have none.  Gentle Hugs to you too. Danielle

For a ignorant folk like me, I do not like to know what science can develope stem cells treatment for arthritis. What I do know is I do no have to take cocktail of drugs every day yet no major problem. I rely on herbs if there is a flare and correct natural foods as daily diet.

All I know even when I was bedridden during flare, with correct herbs I could get back to normal QOL eventually as pain and swells were well under controlled. There is no need for drugs as I have herbs. When there is a flare the disease is practically controlled your body that is subjected to pain, suffering, immobility and all the emotions and stress. Perhaps, there is a long way to uncover the wonder of herbs and correct natural foods. Nature is there to be explored but there is no interest or belief as the mindset is tuned to ONLY to drugs/meds but in fact medical science already stated THERE IS NO CURE!

What to be explored is NATURE

When one reaches almost the dead end one will try anything because there is nothing to lose after all there is no solution.
