are swollen...my ring finger is normally a 5.25....today, I can barely slip a ring that is a size SEVEN on!! Forget my wedding rings! *cries* I can't even wear my new watch....I can't get it over my hand!!

Sooo, thoughts? Good lordy they hurt today! My whole BODY hurts...I'm not even bothering with lidocaine patches. I attempted to stick them on my wrists, but it's SO humid...I couldn't even make them stick with medical tape. LOL

Least your nails look good, right?

Hang in there.

Your hands and fingernails are beautiful!! Sorry they hurt so bad though, hope they feel better real quickSarah....for now just painkillers, Cymbalta, Ibprofen (I can't take other NSAIDs, I've had to fainting spells...one on Mobic and one on Relafen. Not worth the risk) and I take phenergan because when I am in SO muc pain I get sick to my stomach. Then at night, I take Zanaflex to sleep...i don't want sleeping meds.

I'mputting a call into my RD right now, trying to get an earlier appointment. I don't have anotner onw until JUNE!!! EEKS!!
I am so sorry your hands hurt.  Mine are even more swollen and have been for almost 2 years.  I gave up on rings, my hubby bought me a really pretty necklace I wear instead and my watch is adjustable.

I little advice, go to the drug store and look for cotton moisture gloves,. I get mine at VCS got .99.  The constant light pressure and the motion of the gloves moving over your skin will help reduce the swelling.  Rub some icy hot or similiar goo over them than put the gloves on.  I sleep in gloves every night, have some at the office I have cut the tips off as well and wear them whenever I am driving or just watching tv even.

So sorry your hands are hurting so bad!! Wish I had some ideas to help you..mine are bad today too. I can't get my ring off though.

I was going to put a picture on here...but I can't figure out how to paste it in here??

Hi MsMidge:

I really feel for you and your hands. Mine never stop hurting. I do find that when my swelling gets bad I drink a few glasses of Diet Vernor's Ginger Ale and it helps. I guess ginger ale is a bit of a diuretic as well as ginger itself being a fair to mild anti-inflammatory. Vernor's is pretty much the last ginger ale that actually still has real ginger as well as being aged in wooden barrels...

I now make my own ginger ale at home and use a cool machine I bought from a company called Soda Club to make my soda at home. Saves a bunch because the Vernor's can be pricey when compared to other soda.

I also use either Blue Emu or Blue relief gels to help with pain, especially at night. I like the Blue Relief product better but it's harder to find around here.

Something else to mention is be careful about putting gloves over your hands after applying any pain relieving cream or gel. Many contain components that can cause blistering if covered.

Also I have been reading labels lately and some products have warnings specifically excluding using them for treating RA. Must be because they can actually increase swelling & irritation of an area.

I also get some relief from holding one of those frozen gel packs for a few moments in each hand until the pain lessens.

Basically I am willing to stand on one leg, whistle Dixie all the while twirling a hula-hoop while wearing a super-sized onesie if it would make the pain stop..

I like the suggestion of the moisture gloves...a small amount of pressure might help force fluids out of the area...might have to try that out...thanks!!

PS MsMidge: the french manicure looks GREAT... HA!! well then ya break a nail and ua just glue on a new one...too funny!

Well, they still look nice! I used to have acrylics too...but decided to save the money. Now I have nothing for nails. I bite them terribly. Even when I had acrylics, I'd bite mine from underneath them...

I should try those pressons for the toes though- my feet are SOOO ugly, maybe that would help a little bit! Make sure you take that pic of your hands with you to the doc when you go in.  That is important that they see all that swelling.  Are you going to the new rheumy?

Anywhooo....I will call you later.  I did an out of the world stupid thing today and right now I am supervising that making of banana bread lol.

MsMidge you're just too cute with your press on finger/toe nails.

Peace & Love....Neasy

Hahahahahahahah I was *SO* gonna rag on you for the nails!! You're so slick there, makin' sure you got your toes in the shot too. I'm surprised you're not wearing your newest pair of pumps. LMAO I LOVE YOU!!!!!

Dear MsMidge, Your nails do look great hope your not getting them done to often. Some of the toxins in nail products are quite harsh.  I know I've been there. Anyway I have arthritis on my hands as well but I do not have the swelling that you have. Try asper cream it works for a while .At least you can rest from pain for awhile. I also try to exercise my hands by (NOW THIS MAY SOUND SILLY AND I DID NOTICE SOME LITTLE FEET AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR PHOTO DON'T LET THEM GET IT IN THEIR HAIR.) I play with Silly Putty. Just roll it around on your palms or the top of your hand and squash it.it feels good and isn't messy unless you get it in your hair. Hope you find some help for your pain. God Bless

I have tried all the pain relief creams unfortunatly. Yeah...doesn't work. Lidocaine patches help my wrists...but I can't really put them all over my fingers, ya know??? I HAVE to work in the kitchen.

I don't to go the nail salon that often...I don't have the patience...nor the time to leave the kids for an hour. I'm enjoing the press-ons....well, I actually use a special glue I buy at Sally's beauty supply....not those wstupid sticky tabs that are JUNK!! I put a different pair on today...and they are SO much shorter...I prefer that. Small white line, and aren't talons...I can get more done (and less of a chance to pop them off!

Katie...I didn't mean to get my feet in that picture actually!! That was ALL DH! (he took the pic) THhe kids were nearby too. LOL. I love my toes.....I'm always running into things and busting my toenails WAY down to the quick...so now I don't have to worry about it!! And no polish chipping!! LOL

off to put the terrors to bed. We were in the ER with DD all afternoon. Shhe's still running fevers in the 102.7-104.5 range...but NO other symtoms. They ruled out blood infectoin and UTI. *sighs* SO, who knows. SHhe's a whiney little bugger!!!
Aww poor baby.....I'd be whiney too if I had a temp that high!!! Get her fixed up soon. :) And take care of YOURSELF.
