Yeast? Pip! Gimpy! | Arthritis Information

I was responding pretty good to the Enbrel and injectable MTX for about 6 weeks then about 2 to 3 weeks ago I went totally downhill.  Many days i was bedridden wondering whats wrong now.  Even with probiotics I noticed yeast this morning so I took a Diflucan and doubled the probiotics.

Is it possible that the yeast alone caused my downward spiral?  I hope so cause yeast I can take care of.  It didn't act like a herx which I have had before.

Thanks

Hey Bonny!

I've been thinking about you!

IMHO yeast is one 'big bad'.  I think that's what's going on with me.  I forgot my probiotics for about 6 weeks and even with diflucan haven't brought things under control again yet.  Something got out originally, right?

How di you plan to handle yeast?  Are you going to do an anti-candida diet?

Pip

P.S.  How much probiotics were you taking?  3 - 4 X the RDA?

I don't know the answer to that question at all. My yeast has been well
under control except for a few bad weeks when I first started. I was taking
a lot of probiotics until I figured out I should just buy really good
probiotics. The problem with probiotics is most brands are in gel caps or
powder and your stomach acid kills the majority of it so only a little gets
to your gut, unless you buy a probiotic that bypasses that problem. I take
one Florastor a day and one acidophilus pearls. Florastor is spores that
aren't affected by stomach acid. I buy it at the pharmacy and I have to ask
for it at the counter. Acidophilus pearls are triple enteric coated, the
patented delivery sytem that gets the beneficial bacteria to your gut. Also,
neither of then need to be refirgerated, which is a bonus.

I did read The Yeast Connection and it said some people with candida
experience arthritis-like symptoms, so I suppose it's possible that's the
problem. A good place to ask would be the road back website.
