Has anyone out there had success with remicade after failing humira

I have!  Remicade worked great for me and Humira did not.  The only problem was I became allergic t the Remicade after a year.  But that year was the best I have had since I was diagnosed with RA.

Hope you have the same kind of results, but w/o the allergy.

Good Luck.

Thank you for that. Humira did nothing for me and my Dr is considering remicade so now I know theres a chance it will work. Sorry you became allergic. Are you tolerating Rituxan ok. We can't get Rituxan in N Z.Hi, I'm on Remicade now (900 once a month) , but this is the 3rd infusion ??, don't know how long it usually takes to work, along with 20 MTX, and 4mgs of pred. SOMETHING, is working for me. Hope Remicade works for you. Sarah Lynda

I am tolerating Rituxan fine so far, but it is not doing me nearly as much good as Remicade.  I am still in pain most of the time.

But, I am hoping that whether or not it is stopping the pain, it is doing something to stop the progression.  I am on my 2nd round of it and I seem to have had more of a pain free time on the first go round.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

I've been on Remicade for over a year, after failing Enbrel. It has not been miraculous, but my blood work is greatly improved, which is what the dr. is judging the success from, I'm not anemic anymore. I didn't agree to any of the biologics until I was in a terrible flare, which was a mistake. The dr. finally said my pain is from all the damage that happened in the past and all I can hope for is that any more damage is controlled.I hope the remicade continues working for you. I was like that 12 years ago when they suggested methotrexate. The word chemotherapy scared me and I tried placquenil instead which was a waste of time. In that 6months I got heaps of damage. I must say the possible side effects of biologics scare me too but at the end of the day the risk is worth it to prevent joint damage.

I will have my 3rd loading dose of Remicade next week and so far all I can tell is that I'm not as fatigued. Which is good, of course. I had no results on Humira. For some reason I'm very drug resistant. Which has me constantly wondering about my diagnoses. I'm very happy about having more energy!

Hey Coral, my sister with RA is on Remicade (3 infusions) after Humira and MTX failed miserably. MTX did permenant damage to her lungs so pred. is a Must have now just to be able to breathe.

So far the remicade has worked in that flares are usually shorter in duration and not as severe, which is a good thing for her. She had almost no relief and constant flare for almost a year.Pred. has also been lowered to 10mgs a day from a nearly 30mgs on average a day.Was as high as 75mgs for almost 7mos. Very brittle bones and fractures in her back are happening because of the high dosage.

I hope it works for you and you can  get the relief you need to cope with this wicked disease.

Thank you for your answers. Your poor sister Genesis. I hope the remicade keeps making her improve. I swore I wouldn't take pred again but when you get bad you have no option. Its good to know people are getting help from remicade after failing enbrel or humira. Hope the remicade keeps helping you too miles2go.

I am on remicade now and have been for about 20 months.  I fianlly can go every 5 weeks, and that took until  about 10 weeks ago. Remicade works pretty well for me. I still get flares, but they are shorter, and over all I do feel better.

For me the best biologic was Enbrel, but after 16 doses it simply quit working. I used humira for a while, but it quit too.
