Wanting to cut down on Prednisone, my rheumy told me to take my 10 mg one day, 5 mg the next, etc.

Here's my question.  I started this last weekend and on the days I'm taking 5 mg. I'm in more pain, and have more swelling.  The odd thing is that also I'm so tired.  I'm back to being out of control tired.  An example; I went to bed at 11:30 a.m. yesterday for a nap (my one day off from work) and I woke up at 8:30 this morning!!!!!  The kicker is that I could still go to sleep.  So, would cutting down on the Prednisone do that?  Or is it just a coincidence?

Debrakay,

I posted this on the prednisone board here at AI. I think it will answer all of your prednisone questions, maybe not.

LEV

Lev,

Thank you!  That has some great information.  I must have missed that when you posted it before.

Looks like I'm having withdrawal.  Damn, makes me feel like a crack addict, lol.

Thanks again.

Great article Larry !Thank you. I'm saving a copy.

Debrakay,

I think I experience a mild flare when I reduce the dosage, especially from 15 to 10.  That's a big one for me.

LEV,

Great article.

I'm glad I don't follow the normal side effects.  Besides getting rid of the pain, every time I take prednisone, my complection clears up, I lose weight, and I sleep better.  Yeah!

People talk about their love-hate relationship with prednisone; mine's all "love."

kweenb39243.314224537 I just stopped pred and have my typical 3 day lasting no pred headache.  I lose weight too.  YAY!!!!
