ANyone ever try this??

My pain meds aren't doing jack for my hands & knees....so I've pretty much cut back (no point in wasting them, right?).

I was picking up something from the pharmacy for my daugter and got to chatting withh the pharmacist (they are AWESOME up there...if i"m early for a script, they will charge me my co-pay, and file with my insurance a few days later. I don't know ANYONE else who gets that kind of service!!!) and asked him if he could recommend anything. For short term he said try the aspercreme...since it's something I can put on my FINGERS (I can't stick my lidoderm patches there!!!).

Okay, so it's not a miracle worker, but it makes it so I can move my fingers without EXTREME pain. (the pain has been AWFUL!! I can't even make a fist I am so swollen and stiff.....I'm calling the DR this morning. the jerk Dr....I don't have a choice. My new RD is out of town).

I think I am going to BEG for a pred pack or BEG to be put on MTX or something. I don't care what I hhave to do..injection, etc. I need relief from this crap!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry you are suffering.  I have used the aspercream, along with various other brands of creams and most do help take the edge off, even if just for a short while.  Have you tried wearing cotton gloves?  The light pressure helps to keep the swelling down, again, not a miracle but helps. Yup, tried thhis over the weekend. Didn't help. Of course it doesn't help that I HATE having things on my hands and feet....like socks. LOL. Drives me BATTY. (I'm wierd like that)

*sighs* Calling the Dr in a little bit. Ugh.
I have tried Isotoner open tip gloves and they are great.  I need my fingertips to type and pass out papers so they work fine.  They were a godsend on a recent plane trip I took.  My feet and hands swell so much when I fly.  Best of all they are less than .00.  The seams are on the outside to avoid pressure points and they are washable.

I use a lot of creams and sprays verses too much pain medication. Sometimes it's helpful sometimes not.

Be careful with these things though and don't cover or wrap the area because too much can be absorbed into the skin. Yesterday I posted an article at another site I heard about on CNN where a young girl (Teenage) DIED from using too much Ben Gay! I know it sounds rediculous.....but it has happened.

Aspercream I think is kind of different; but I wanted to mention that anyway.

I can't tell you how many times I've stood there while my husband rubbed me down with IcyHot or BenGay on numerous places on my body at once. After reading that article I'll be a little more cautious about it in the future. I'll see if I an find that article again and post it for you guys to read.
