Popping knuckles etc | Arthritis Information

I was wondering if you all pop your knuckles or joints? I constantly do it. My sis says that she heard that it causes arthritis and isn't good to do. I told her I feel better after I pop them and I already have ra so there.  Even my neck, it gets stiff and hurts and if I move it around in a circular motion, it pops repeatedly. My ankles are the same way. I relieves the pain and stiffness when I do this. SO, what do you all think?

Yeah I heard that story too, about popping your knuckles causes arthritis.

I have not been able to pop my knuckles since I was a kid. Now if I try to pop them, there is only pain and no popping.

Now my back... I LOVE to get hubby to sit on my butt and him press down with the palm of his hands to help relieve some of the pain in my back from after me sitting up a lot. It feels sooooooo much better after he pops my back.

My neck well... I can do a half circular motion. When I get my head to the back and start to my right side, it just does not go to the right. I do not know. I remember when I was a kid, I could pop my neck by pushing my head from one side to the other, but have not been able to do that since I was a teenager. Now it is stiff on my right side more than my left and I have to have someone rub it to make it unstiff. I seem to cope well with a stiff right side of my neck. My head tilts to the right all the time as well. Not sure what that is from

Oh and BTW... I say pop away

I know my pain is much worse when I don't pop (my neck, my back, my SI joints, my hands and my elbows), so I'm going to continue.

People told me that as a kid too when I would pop my knuckles. Guess what~I got arthritis! lol Was it caused by cracking my knuckles? I don't know....but I sure popped them a lot when I was little. Now I don't pop my knuckles that much; but other joints knees, shoulders, ankles pop all the time all on their own. No effort required.

I've heard it's really not harmful; but who knows?

Popping knuckles doesn't cause arthritis, but it does force the synovial fluid out of the joints -- which can't be a good thing!

I sound like a bowel of rice crispies but with no effort on my part!  I used to pop my fingers and toes but now the thought of it makes them hurt worse! I crack 3 fingers on my left hand, my left foot, and left big toe.  I know it's not good for me but if I don't crack them they hurt like the dickens!!!

I snap, crackle, and pop all the time without effort. I pop them and it relieves it. I will ck out that link that was mentioned. I was just worried if I was causing damage when I do it.?

thx for your replies,

The sound of a popping knuckle makes me sick to my stomach. I never ever ever cracked. My husband and my 2 sons pop away and I have to leave the room. Of course, I am the one with RA.
