WOw scary news today, called my ex husband about the emancipation and why nothing has been done and he said he was out of town because his brother ( my age, 50) had a heart attack and is in a coma and on life support. They are not sure how long he went without oxygen and they had to use the paddles on him 5 times at the site where he had the heart attack and several times during surgery.

Turns out he had a blockage and had a stint ( or  however you spell it) placed in and he has not come out of coma for over 2 days. It does not look good. I wished my x and his family luck because his brother was ALWAYS kind to me no matter what.

50, this guy is 50 years old! Scares me!

My ex-husband had a massive heart attack last year at age 37. Luckily for him he wasn't alone and people were able to get him to the ER asap! (He was actually coaching my daughters softball practice when it happened). It was really scary. He could have easily died.

He now lives with a stint and rarely has follow up appointments. I'm afraid one day we'll get simular news about my children's father as you got about your ex-BIL.

I hope that things turn around and he will be able to recover. That's got to be very upsetting for his family.

Gosh Jode that is terrible, Hope he recovers but he may have brain damage from lack of oxygen. I was 50 when I had a heart attack a little over 2 yrs ago. Thank the Lord I had little damage but had to have three by-passes. Will say a prayer for him and his family.

sorry, jode. hope he comes out of it.

Thanks so much for your replies. My x husband just called and said they called the family in. 2 of his daughters are in Washington state with their mom and the middle daughter ( daddy's girl) just flew in from Idaho when they were in the middle of telling the girls and his 2nd wife that he most likely will not live through this.I believe they are in Kentucky now, I think that is where his brother lives.

My ex said that there is extreme minimal brain activity due to the lack of oxygen to his brain and they will give him 12 more hours but he is just not responding to anything. After the 12 hours the family will have to decide on life support. My x was a mess, he is more like a brother to me now that we no longer fight ( thankfully, plus his new wife mostly keeps her hateful trap of a mouth shut).

I feel for them I really do, I knew Jerry for over 23 years and he was always kind, a bit on the roudy side but he and I were always close friends. Even since the divorce he would send a goofy message through my daughter and I would send him one back.

I guess if you have to die, and we all do, a quick heart attack might be the most painfree for the individual just because it is not a long dragged out painful experience. It is certainly not easy for family and friends...especially the children..... and I know all too it is not easy for the children!

jodejjr39245.6167592593Oh, I am SO sorry to hear this!!

*hugs*
I'm real sorry to hear things have not improved Jode.

What a week! XBIL did awaken from the coma,  somehow.....and had more trouble with his heart so they went in and redid the stint. They are not certain at this point how much brain damage has occurred. So far he mosty recognizes everybody with some help.

He goes to a rehab facility next week I think it is to help with physical and mental abilities, he cannot quite sit up without help as of yet.

He lived. That's what matters.

That is what's important Jode.  I am so glad to hear he came out of the coma, and I hope with all the family support he is getting he will make a fast recovery.

My best to all of you.

I doubt if I hear too much more about all this, but he is alive.
