Nodule(?) finger joint | Arthritis Information

I am having a both hand flare situation the last few days and one finger joint in particular has a knot on it that wasn't there before.  It is very angry looking and red.  Anyone ever get these and will it go away.  It almost looks like it is infected.  It is extremely painful to the slightest touch.  I wrapped the joint with cotton because it was just so tender.  sewez38553.9659722222

Hi there, Sewez,

Sorry that you are suffering with this.  I am in a flare right now myself....very very tired and have both wrists achy and stiff.  I hurt last weekend, but the pain got better by Monday so I thought I'd avoided the flare.  It is just creeping back....I take my MTX tomorrow evening.

I have had nodules...one hurt and one didn't.  Since it is extremely painful to the touch, I'd call my RD if I were you.  Maybe the joint is infected, altho I am guessing it is flare pain.

Interestingly enough, my nodules disappeared when I had a cortisone injection into my wrist late last year.  One was right by my wrist, but the other one was on my middle finger.  I am not saying you need a shot, but I think the doc can help you.  Let us know how you are doing!

Id agree, a cortisone shot might do the trick. Ive always found them helpful when im in a lot of pain.yes - I have had a few of these. It's part of the autoimmune disease that you have. I had them injected with hydracortizone and they went down, but they can come back.
Sorry. It sucks.

Same here.... I have had these come and go for the past three years now (since diagnosis).   I have found that due to the skin stretching they sometimes can itch like all get out on top of the pain so double misery on that one.   However, since I also have Raynaud's I have found any joint that has had a nodule will turn a beautiful shade of purple before my entire finger dose (the color change is because of the Raynaud's).   So.. I guess the nodule goes down or totally away but the injury to the skin remains.

Try to hang in there... brighter days are coming.   Just remember in the mean time you have a loving, kind, understanding place to be... HERE !!!!

Thanks to all of you for your responses.  Misery adores company!!  I am due for Remicade this next week so maybe that will take care of all my hurts.  If not it is off to the rheumy for a cortisone injection (or several!).  You all take care.
