I heard on the news today that the medical community finally has some symtoms pointing to ovarian cancer for women to look out for. . Lower abdominal bloatring , appetite loss, etc.

They must have finally read Gilda Radners Book "It's always something".
Didnt she write about these symptoms more than 20 years ago???

What does it take??
Thinkthinn - I read those symptoms in my endocronologist's office almost three years ago and went, holy cow, that's my symptomology.  So I had him test me, and it was negative.  I don't know why all of a sudden its news.   I said that to my husband today, that I had read this in a brochure years ago.  Why is it suddenly in the news, its old news.

I'm sitting here reading my pap test results with ?????.  I had a mildly abnormal pap (ASCUS) using the Thin Prep pap smear.  So they did the HPV DNA testing which was normal.  My dr. recommended another pap at my next yearly, which I would do any way.  I'm just concerned from what I was reading about tonight that I should have one again in 6 months.   Has anyone had this happen?

Just_me - I am a DES-in utero baby, so have been under a watch for 34 years now - yikes.  Anyway, I have gone dsyplasic (sp) (pre-cancerous) three times now with a Pap, and had cryosurgery (cold burning of the area to kill it off three times).  But whenever I get an abnormal Pap, I ALWAYS go down to my local heath department and pay cash and have another Pap done at this separate facility to double check the results of the Pap.  I occasionally every few years do it when I DONT have an abnormal pap, to make sure some moron hungover at a lab didnt check my Pap closely enough.  I dont go to another gynocologist, I use public health.  It's just an idea, but it really eases my mind to have the double check.  Take care and good luck - Cathy

Cathy,

thanks, that sounds like a great idea.  Never thought to do that.  Talked to my doc's office today and they said "don't worry, everything is fine. After all it is normal.  See you next year."

Hmm...just makes you think.  Of course hubby thinks I am over reacting.
