Funny how they don't mention MS symptoms or lymphoma

65,

They did mention lymphoma at the very bottom:

Enbrel has a well characterized safety profile and is well tolerated. Although a rare event, a higher than expected rate of lymphoma was observed in the analysis. However, further study is required to establish whether this is related to TNF antagonist exposure or reflects the elevated risk of lymphoma in patients with RA.

LEV

Thanks Lev, I missed that...No MS mention???

Thanks for posting the article.

Peace & Love...Neasy

Good article, don't you just love the medical news today site.   Have you ever looked at the science daily web site? They have really good info too.

Somebody was really worried about enbrel so BUMP!

Thanks LevLarry

Nice to hear a positive in this fight to dormant Ra. Been on Enbrel for 8 weeks now and the improvement is unbelievable. I'm in awe at what this drug has done for me.

Good God Larry - I post an award winning article by a non-partisan writer and you post a puff piece.  It's a PR piece!  LMAO.

It's been a long time since you were in school, right?  Don't worry sweetie, I'll teach you how to evaluate research!

Pip

P.S.  This is the part that wasn't copied.  Hit the link at the bottom and you get the PR companies web site.

Pip,

With all due respect Moses, I certainly do not need you to teach me how to research. When i research i look with both eyes, my good eye and my bad eye. I don't get tunnel vision, you do. You are on a mission to bring awareness to Dr. Brown and AP therapy in hopes of more funding. Sell your house, send them the money. You can't see left and you certainly can't see right, you are on a mission and to blazes with truth and honesty. I don't look at biologics and say that all else is criminal. Have you never seen older people deformed and crippled prior to tnf blockers. You don't care. If someone posts something good about something other than AP according to you it is a paid advertisement and totally untrue. What's wrong with you? Why war over something so stupid?

Oh, and when you are insinuating that Doctors are criminals, name names so that we can write to them and they can either deny it or sue you. It's amazing that if any good article is posted about anything but AP, the article is not factual and a complete lie paid for by big pharms. But, when you post a site or an article they are as pure as god. As if god had written it in stone and personally handed it to Moses Pip.

I posted this because there is so much concern about enbrel safety because so many people take it. You can't let it be what it is so to ease some concerns, you have to try to make it into a lie with your silly silliness.

Hey Moses Pip, where is your article or your proof that what i posted about enbrel safety is not true? You don't have that do you Moses Pip. It's very easy to yell lies isn't it, but not so easy to prove that it's a lie. See, i know how to research, you have nothing to back up your suggestion that the article that i posted is untrue. But as far as you with your tunnel vision, anything good about something but AP has to be a paid for lie. Let me teach you about researching, if you can't back up what you say, you are just blowing smoke.

There is no doubt in my mind that you are a paid representative for one these organizations promoting AP therapy, you need to come clean, you are working for some organization.

This is really going to hurt you Moses Pip but too bad. Thank you Dr. Clay. (My GM) Thank you Dr. Richardson. (My RD) Thank you Enbrel and thank you Wyeth. I have good function and am no longer depressed. I now find that i still do have a life and a good one thanks to you all.

Lev

Um, Lev, that article you posted IS paid advertising. They're pretty clear
about that in the footnotes.

Also, there is only one organisation promoting AP and that's the Road
Back Foundation, which is a peer to peer orgaqnisation run completely by
volunteers.

From the Road Back home page:
"The Road Back Foundation, founded as a non-profit, charitable
organization in 1993, is a peer-to-peer endeavor run entirely by
volunteers -- professionals who are dedicated to providing information
and support to people interested in antibiotic protocols (AP). RBF does
not accept corporate contributions from industry. None of the people
involved in this effort receive a salary or other compensation. The
Foundation is supported solely by individuals who have personally
experienced or witnessed the life-changing results of antibiotic
treatment."

Sorry, but I have to agree with Pip! your research skills could use some
toning.

Hey Mike..i had fantastic luck on Enbrel, also...all these new meds are better , and help us stay mobile, so much better than what our grandparents had, not much in those days to fight RA..lots of advances being made nowadays..especially with the baby-bommers aging!

Agree with you 100% Levlarry!!!!!!

 LEV,

This does not hurt me.  What hurts me is people in pain and others too blind to see they have other options besides the option they are on.

And yes, I have seen people horribly deformed with RA prior to tnf-blockers.  My husbands' aunt, who was more like a mother to him, died of RA; horribly gnarled and disfigured, her hands so twisted she couldn't hold a pen and her feet so misshapen she needed a walker to move, which she rarely did because of the pain.  I put Desitin on her open bed sores and massaged lotion into the flaking skin on her legs.  I have always wondered if this was my 'exposure' to RA.

I am glad you are happy with your doctors.  I was not.  One of my 'criminal' doctors just happened to be the doctor that treated my husbands Aunt for 30+ years.  This idiot will never know how close he came to being 'belted' by my calm, sweet, never ruffled husband for suggesting, when I was in screaming pain, that an 'ice bag' should do the trick.  We left that appointment and my husband turned and looked at me with pain in his eyes and said, "that was her doctor".  Is that why she rarely spoke at the end?  Was the pain that bad (it was for me) and her pain management so minimal that he left her to die in a hell made on earth?

And I really wish some organization would pay me to say what I believe in my heart of hearts is the truth - we have infections and while there is no cure (in theory) somebody somewhere is working to cure us.  Not keep us on maintainence drugs for life.  But to cure us.

I have no problem with anybody posting any research that is 'clean' and I mean that from boths sides of the equation.  AP and non-AP.  Heck, you want some 'clean' research - go to the Roadback and do a search for Joe M.  He posts stuff all the time and a lot of it is NOT paid for by the company owning the drug funding the research.  Some is but a lot is not.  The research he posts has the disclosures at the bottom in an easy to read format.

I do have a problem posting puff pieces from PR companies paid to find the best angle of a 'product'.

Am I supposed to say a 'product' doesn't have harsh side effects when it does just so some person doesn't get their feelings hurt?  Frankly, if anything I write gets somebody looking at the info themselves - more power to me!  They have brains.  They can judge for themselves and take the risks for themselves.  If this were my child I sure as heck would be double checking everything the doc said.  Not because he may be wrong.  Just because it's my child and it's my duty to protect her.  Relying on other people, be they doctors OR people posting on a BB is ludicris.  We need to educate ourselves in order to protect ourselves and our loved ones.  We may decide the doc was right.  Fine.  But at least we did our part.

Pip

Gimpy,

Somewhere i must have missed the section that claims that this safety study is only a paid advertisement. It was a documented safety study.

Everybody knows what a nice fair person i am and of course an all around nice guy, so i will allow you a couple of days to back up the statement that this study has been doctored and falsified. Apprently you and Pip are claiming that the safety study results are untrue? That somebodies have frauded themselves by making false statements about the safety study? So take a few days and back up your statements. Show us all by your research that the safety study is just a false advertisement.

Oh Gimpy, saying that americans are all crooks isn't going to get it. Saying that our United States government health agencies are run by crooks and criminals that take bribes and pay-offs so that pharmacuitical companies can make false safety statements with-out serious criminal repercussions with out facts to back it up, guess what? Not this time, Gimpy. This time you have to have facts to back up your statements. Got it? While you are looking for some facts to back up your statements i will have plenty of time to tone my searching skills.

Happy searching Gimpy, just the facts Gimpy, just the facts.

Oh Gimpy, did the big pharm pay off  EULAR too? Of course they did, duh. Guess what, i have some more safety studies results on enbel to share, awww.

Welcome to EULAR

The European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) is the organisation which represents the patient, health professional and scientific societies of rheumatology of all the European nations. EULAR endeavors to stimulate, promote, and support the research, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of rheumatic diseases. In line with UEMS, EULAR defines rheumatology as including rheumatic diseases of the connective tissue, locomotor and musculoskeletal systems

Probably just another bunch of thieves paid off by big pharms, whattya think Gimpy?

Lev

Sorry, Lev. I wasn't aware that PR companies (like Ketchum, who wrote and
released your article), who are paid by the company who's sole purpose is to
make money by selling the product, were now the gold standard of medical
reporting. I thought those articles fell under the category of a paid
advertisement. My bad! Happy now?Gimpy-a-gogo39255.0149537037PS---have you ever considered some anger management therapy for your
little problem?

[QUOTE=Gimpy-a-gogo] Sorry, Lev. I wasn't aware that PR companies (like Ketchum, who wrote and

Well, they consider it "free" advertising, but it is not. This is how it works: Amgen pays the PR company, Ketchum (one of the best by the way, probably THE best), then Ketchum writes the news release and sends it into the paper. The writer at the paper takes the release, usually makes very few changes, and puts his name on the article, to make it look as if he wrote it himself. So, although it is considered "free" publicity in the PR industry, because you do not pay for ad space-- believe me, it is not free-- Ketchum is one of the most expensive PR agencies out there. And, to the reader, it looks much more believable than a "paid advertisement."  (My undergrad major was PR/journalism)

karin101339255.0528587963Oh, woops. I just read the full article at the site. That is not even a newspaper article. It is just the news release itself! That's why it has the ### (end article marks) and the PR company contact info at the bottom.

Gimpy,

It is your bad, and Pip and Karin. I'm not angry, but you now have to back up not just what you say but also what yous insinuate. Yous have at the very least, insinuated that the makers of ENBREL have submitted to the world a safety study report that is falsified. That is what yous are trying to convey to the readers of this forum, is that a correct statement? Then back it up. If you three can, we will all see you on CNN and every other news agency as the three that busted the makers of ENBREL. People will go to jail. The makers of ENBREL will probably have to file bankruptcy. And of course, didn't yous make refence to the fda and other agencies and organizations being paid off. I'm kinda still waiting on something from yous to back those allegations up? But, i guess at the same time you bust ENBREL you can bust the agencies and organizations.

Like i said, I am fair. Take all the time you need to show that the safety study results were falsified. Don't try to sneak your way out by saying that i am angry. I'm not angry but, yous have to start backing up the things you say. That does not make me angry. Looks to me like you are looking for a quick way out rather than bringing facts to the board showing that the makers of ENBREL are trying to pull the wool over the eyes of ENBREL users. Take your time, i know how hard it can be to research and i am taking this time to "tone" my researching skills.

Lev

All I ever said about it was that it's a paid advertisement, which it is.Nobody said anything is falsified. Gimpy is right it is paid advertising. An unbiased, neutral third party would certainly be a more reliable source than a news release from a PR company paid by the maker of the drug. JMO.
