my girlfriend has juvenile arthritis and i am wondering if there are any methods of massage that would help with pain relief.
or if there is anything that is important to know about JA that i dont already know.
thanks for the help
chris
Hi Chris,
Welcome! I'm sorry to hear your girlfriend has JRA, but have to say she is very lucky to have such a wonderful boyfriend. I think you are doing exactly what she needs, giving support and doing research.
We have some young adult members here that grew up with JRA and could probably give you better advice as they've been there(and are still young enough to remember it
Good luck,
thanks for the egnolagment (sp) of my concerns ... im sure i will be postin a lil bit over time .... but thank u
Chris
i'm wayney, i was diagnosed with jra at 7. on the massage, it's
really what helps each person....even day to day which body parts that
are helped by massage can change. some days it will hurt to touch
my shoulders but others, no touch is stong enough to relieve
pain.
not knowing what all you know about this...i can't really answer the
second question of yours. i cna try to answer any specific
questions you have though.
just be understanding of any possible limits your girlfriend has.
umm don't just jump in to help if she's struggling, but offer
your help and if she says no, well, don't force it on her.
but also don't treat her like she's imagining pain.
i'm trying to think of things i went through when i was younger,
although the simple fact that you care enough to ask this here tells me
you probably don't do the treat her like she's imagining pain
thing.
feel free to ask anything you'd like. i think after 21 years of
dealing with this i may have seen and heard it all or if i haven't, i
can find out. i'm not trying to sound conceited here, just an
unfortunate fact of living life with "arthur".
