Raising cane about my cane! | Arthritis Information

Well, today I finally had to use the cane. I have been putting it off but my mom is in the hospital and having open heart surgery Monday and after 2 days of walking from the parking lot to the hospital to her room just about killed me. I was so sore yesterday and worn out that I couldn't even go see her. My dad had polio and had a cane collection. He passed away in 2002 and for  some reason I said I wanted the canes. That was before I knew about ra. Weird. He has some from an old buddy that are carved out of wood and just beautiful. I got one and tried it out.....not bad once I figured out how to walk with it. I hobbled to the door and had my sis take me up the rest of the way in a wheelchair. I kept saying to Janie (sis) I'm only 40....I can't believe this....I'm only 40.....I can't believe I have to use a cane and wheelchair.  I'm only 40....this sucks! My feet feel much better tonight but my right shoulder, wrist, and hand are hurting like a b*tch from the cane probably. Just can't win...
