what meds are you on/what works | Arthritis Information

I'm wondering if you guys would mind posting what meds you are on and if they have given you relief. I see my rheumatologist this week and know that it is time to move onto more meds. I've been on plaquenil which I didn't respond well to. I'm currently on methotrexate and mobic. I have a difficult time tolerating steroids. If you feel comfortable sharing, would you mind posting what meds you are on and how you feel? I'm interested to hear about all different types of treatment, but don't want this to turn into a debate board. I'm hoping this will be a safe place to share information on what has worked for you. love and hugs, Julia

Also, would you mind posting your diagnoses, if they are other than RA, or additional to RA? I have RA, cardiomyopathy, fibromyalgia and occasional back pain due to ruptured/herniated discs. Hx of Graves Disease (had thyroidectomy and am on synthroid) and ulcerative colitis (currently in remission).

Juliah,

I believe my diagnoses and meds are posted in my signature.

I enjoy your posts.  I don't believe I was a member when you were here before.

Hope you find something that works for you.

crispy39250.8180902778Hi, I am on the following meds, below. It has taken at least 3 months for the remicade to work (tripled the dosage the last 3 times!), and from 5 to 20 mtx , for the past 10 years I'd been doing well on 10 mtx, but because of an very unusual situation (heart surgery in Dec, not related to RA) I have had to have serious increase of medication.  I've had a hard time getting back to where I was before December. I've also been on 15mgs of prednisone which I believe saved me until now, when the other super drugs have finally begun to 'work'. Good luck sorting all of this out. It isn't easy, it is frustrating 'waiting' to see what works and what doesn't, and it is hard to deal with it all. I have RA, only. me

I am on Enbrel 50mg, Methotrexate 10mg (soon to be increased) 2.5 mg of Predisone (trying to taper off).  I have PA and don't feel optimally controlled.  I am going to tell my Dr i'd like to fight this a bit harder.  (if possible)

I'm a 34yo male.

Just kidding.  Forgot to mention I am on a pred taper right now as well.

Currently on Remicade, MTX (20mg), Prednisone (5mg), Lortab as needed,
Levisin. When first diagnosed I took MTX, Plaquenil, Arthrotec,
Alzufidine(sp?). I have also been on Enbrel and Humira.
RA and Sjorgens. Some sort of IBD--meet with GI doc, next week due to
colonscopy results(fun stuff there!).

Anyway, I have had this over 10 years. Currently 30 will be 31 in August.
I am functioning pretty well. I keep trying to get off the pred but I have
reoccuring bouts of Scleritis in my eyes(inflammation of the whites of
your eyes). So, the pred has stayed. Lately I have had a lot of
inflammation in my sternum, ribs, and upper back. The RD wants me to
consider Orencia or Rituxen. I see him on July 2 to sort it all out. I also
have a TENS unit for pain. I am really against pain meds since it is only
me with my toddler son. I am afraid of sleeping to heavily and not
hearing him. The TENS helps plus the RD knows my situation so I go to
PT twice a week. The therapist is using ultrasound to break up
inflammation in my chest to cut down on discomfort.

Beckycrispy, yes, I am glad to meet you too! :) How do you deal with your fibro? I was recently diagnosed with that, but have had symptoms for many years. My doctor put me on cymbalta, thinking it would help with pain and fatigure, but it really hasn't yet. What type of pain meds do you take and how often? thanks for writing :) love, j Lets see I take
humira weekly
prednisone 5mg-went down to 3.5mg but had to go back up
calcium with vit d
lexapro 40mg
bc pills (to avoid hormonal migraines)
Xanax 5mg at pm
ambien 20mg at pm
zanaflex 8 mg at pm
prevacid 30mg
adrenal supplements
dhea supplements
catapress patch
hypercare solution for sweating
oxycontin 40 mg twice a day

That's what I can remember at the moment.  I also have lidoderm patches and use relpax for migraines as needed.  This combo is not working for me as the fatigue and pain are still too much.
