Are you the one who gets sick when everyone else gets sick?
OR
Are you the one who hardly ever gets sick when everyone else is sick?
I'm the one who never gets colds or flu's. which makes me think my meds aren't working.Since beginning the methotrexate, I seem to get sicker more easily.
I am the one who rarely ever gets what is being passed around. Even being on pred and Humira. When everyone else in the house is puking and looking like they are on their death bed, I am the one who is not sick and taking care of them.
FIL seems to think, I do not get anything that everyone else gets because I am the carrier. I guess. But last I remember is MIL is the one who always gets sick and then my kids get it from her and then my hubby gets it from our kids. They get it because they all drink or eat after each other. I drink after my kids & hubby and eat too. I do it without thinking. My son even wipes his icky green snot on me and sticks his booger-fied fingers in my food and drink.
The only sickness I seem to get is bladder infections and sinus problems, but have always had sinus problems since my poor nose got broke and was never repaired.
Peace & Love...Neasy
I'm like Patti, Never got the flu or colds on meds I thought I would but never did. I hardly ever get sick and I work in a doctors surgery with LOTS of sick people. I nearly laughed at one of the patients the other day, she came in looking paranoid and whispered to me, 'can I sit in the other room, I'm on Chemo and I don't want to get sick'. I had to bite my tongue cause I almost said 'so am I and neither do I'. When I checked her chart she is on a lower dose of methotrexate than I am, then I REALLY wanted to laugh.I rarely get sick either and I am on prednisone and humira and work with the public! Thank goodness for small favors!Never get sick. Never got sick prior to meds and haven't been ill since I started them. Did get a really horrible bacterial intestional infection when in Mex. but probably would have gotten that meds or no meds. Just took 3 weeks to go away. Recovery was longer than usual due to meds.

I think that is why my MIL gets sick all the time. She had Hodgekins Disease and had to go thru radiation and chemo. It seems like she was hardly ever sick before she took chemo and radiation. I do not really remember a time she was sick soo many times in one year before the treatments. Here it is 8 years later after chemo and radiation and she gets everything that goes around and then some that are not even going around. For a couple of years there she was getting the shingles every few months. By the time she would get the shingles to go away a month or so later she would have them again.
I had not had a cold in 7 years prior to being diagnosed w/RA and have not been sick since with anything like that. I was hospitalized w/gastroenteritis for a week 2 years ago, but most of that time was spent doing tests.
Maybe its cause most of us are really much more careful now that we are on immunosuppresants, Ya Think?
