I'm thinking of looking into acupuncture.  Anyone had any experience with this?  Good results?  No change?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

I had some acupuncture for RA and migraines last year. Honestly...it was fabulous for the migraines. They were gone after the 3rd session (but came back after I stopped going for the sessions) but I didn't find it helped me at all for the RA.

Try it and see; I've heard reports of peoplesaying its helped them with pain relief. Its certainly very very relaxing (I used to fall asleep on the table, and then feel zoned out for hours afterwards, as though I'd taken a sedative), so it may help you deal with the stress of your condition (if you are stressed out by it!)
I have had acupuncture for other things and it worked.  When I had acupuncture for my RA I did't notice any difference.  I have been told that if you think it will work you will have a better chance of getting good results than if you think it won't. I had GREAT results with acupuncture! I was able to go off ALL my meds!   Unfortunately my insurance changed and I could not afford it anymore so I had to stop. Now I am back on meds. I would love to get back to getting acupuncture---maybe when I win the lottery!

I use acupuncture often. It is Generally painless. I have PA with joint swelling in my hands and feet with fusing of the spine and hip damage. I am drug free and have been for 6 years. I have gone to the chiropractor for a few years getting treatments. Here is what they do to me:

One needles is placed in the webbing between my fingers and toes right between the joint. They build a bridge up my spine. They start at my extreme low back and place needles on both side of the spine one to 1 ½ inches apart. working up the spine to the shoulders. They go up to the low neck and across the shoulders. I lay still for about an hour just relaxing. Generally I get immediate back relief. For some reason it takes about a day for the swelling to leave the joints in my hands and feet. I get almost 80% improvement in joint movement and total removal of the swelling.

Now, If you are brave you can do this treatment at home and it is CHEEP.

I buy my own needles from a reputable supplier. About 3.50 for 100 needles. I do my own treatment 1 to 3 times a month. It helps the joint pain and swelling better than anti inflammatory drugs and will not harm you. My wife inserts the needles in my back and I do my hands and feet myself. Place the needle and tap it in and remove the tube and you are done. No pain to it.

I have tried placing needles directly at my psoriasis patches with some results. A reduction of the patches but it comes back if you stop treatments.

Here is the web site for the needles. www.sinicave.com You will want go buy the 42 # x 0.5 / 0.14x13mm needles WITH guide tube.

Acupuncture is just like any other therapy where it may work for some and not for others. But you'll never know if it can help you unless you try it.The intent of acupuncture therapy is to promote health and alleviate pain and suffering. The method by which this is accomplished, though it may seem strange and mysterious to many, has been time tested over thousands of years and continues to be validated today.
The perspective from which an acupuncturist views health and sickness hinges on concepts of "vital energy," "energetic balance" and "energetic imbalance." Just as the Western medical doctor monitors the blood flowing through blood vessels and the messages traveling via the nervous system, the acupuncturist assesses the flow and distribution of this "vital energy" within its pathways, known as "meridians and channels". I never tried it but its awesome
