Perspiration and Prednisone | Arthritis Information

Hi all, We've been wondering about perspiration and our meds on this board and I have to say, "I think it is the Prednisone'. is to blame. Last night I had to increase my pred by 1mg, and this morning I was really perspiring. I had taken the mtx the night before, without any problems. LyndaI sweat terribly.  I have to change my shirt during the day and soak my hair several times over as well.  Just last week my doc gave me too scripts to help with this.  The first one is called hypercare solution, its a dab on antiperspirant, I put it under my arms and boobs and in my hair.

The other is a patch called catapress.  Its really used for high blood pressure but it is also supposed to help with hot flashes and to reset your sympathetic nervous system which controls your sweating.  They seem to be helping considerably!

I've always gotten under arm wettness no matter what I tried. This isnt exactly what you are asking but I wanted to share that if you are having a hard time finding a deoderant that works you might want to try that new "Clinical Strength Secret" it cose over .00 which is really high I know; but it's well worth it! They also give a money back guarantee! Save your box and reciept and send it back if you're aren't satified. Thought that was good.

I am the opposite of you Lovie and Michelle.  I have had horrible night and day sweats for the past year and the only place I don't sweat is under the arms.  I can't figure it out.  Ever since I was on MTX I stopped growing hair under my arms (yay! no more shaving) and I don't sweat there anymore either.

But sweat pours off my head, face, neck and other places Hurts, I can tell you that it is the predisone. I see you are lowering it now and how do you do that? I am on 30mg a day and when I try I get really sick. So I don't know how to get off this terrible stuff. I hate it I pour rain every time I take it my cloths are so wet it looks like I was out in the rain all day. I sweat so bad that the water runs in my eyes and I get short of breath. JoanHi, Someone on this forum said, Get some 1 mg tablets for tapering. It has helped a lot because you don't have to cut the 5's. YOU can subtract one mg, a week and give it a try....my doc said, Take off 10 mgs in a month. I'm almost there. You have to experiment with how much you can reduce without pain, swelling, etc. I went up and down several times. Added one then reduced back down.....good luck. Even 1/2 mg a week, at least we are going in the right direction. (also I think the Remicade and MTX are starting to WORK!!! Finally, SarahLynda

I have only sweat from two meds.  Hydrocodone when I first started taking it and the NSAID Diflusonal.  Other than the fact that Diflusonal didn't help me, I stopped taking it because it made me sweat so to the point that my clothes were soaked.  It was gross.  I could actually shake the sweat off my body, even my hair would have sweat dripping off of it.  My sister was taking the med and had the same problem.  She stopped taking it too.

Wow, it seems that these meds do serious things to our bodies. I'm glad you were able to get off of them. LyndaThe hypercare soltuion I have been using can be used anywhere on your body.  I put it in my hair and under my boobs and my feet, it really is helping.  I mean, I do still sweat bit it doesn't pour off me like before!  It was a copay on my insurance, some drugs are as much as so I don't think its too awfully expensive.
