OT-weight loss, again | Arthritis Information

Hi all, here I go again, trying to take off the lard! I found the last time i tried that I didn't feel very good, (well worse than normal) reducing calories. When I take all of this medication it seems to get in the way of weight loss. On 15 mgs. of Prednisone, I ate 'like a horse' , and my body got really use to a lot of carbos , then when I stopped that I felt awful. When I take the MTX  I like to have food in my stomach, so that's a day I seem to overeat (an excuse I know!), then Remicade coming up next Monday. Has anyone experienced feeling bad when you try to reduce calories? Now, I think my 'moon face' has been reduced, but I still have the 'regular' fat, ugh.......someone said it was in my head that I don't feel well reducing calories, what is your experience??????Lyndahow low are you trying to go with the calories.  If you go too low or if the food isn't healthy you could feel bad.  If you are dramatically lowering your sugar or non-vegetable carbohydrates you might be feeling the results of that withdrawal as well.

I've felt really good since I've been dieting.  Have lost 25 lbs just by cutting carbs, low fat, and cutting portions.  I eat very healthy and 5 times a day to keep blood sugars stabilized.  No whites - bread, rice, potatoes, flour, sugar.  Have small amounts of meat, brown rice, salad, veggies, fruit twice a day and snack on fruit, veggies, protein drink, protein bar, low carb cereals.  I don't cut all carbs because I can still lose weight and eat some carbs. I'm healthy and feel good dieting.  Blue Bunny ice cream is the best.  It's helped me over those I'm so deprived times.

Every couple of weeks we treat ourselves to a night out and splurge.  Good luck, it's hard to lose weight.   Lindy

Hi, I mostly don't eat cake and ice cream. Cut down on breads, (carbos). I wasn't drinking any coffee then, not even decafe, which I've added now., so maybe that will help my energy, sluggish feeling. I just walked the beach (30 minutes of a brisk walk...down a path then along the beach, through soft sand, then back to the car) I'm trying. (OH, took a whole lasix , diuretic, 20mgs., so that will get rid of excess fluids!)....was down to 2 preds then up to 3-1/2 today...ugh. Took my mtx yesterday. The pred helped the swelling, stiffness in my hands. Do we have to struggle so much? Lynda

In my new guise in 'Promoting AP' I feel compelled to state that I've lost over 15 lbs on AP - and not did anything to 'deserve it'.  It just happened as a 'side effect' of my therapy.

P.S.  Hurts - I understand your frustration and I'm trying to be supportive.  I know the pain of dieting and dieting and nothing happening except getting more hungry.  You know I really like you - but if you read my long post you'll understand why I'm putting this info here.

P.S.S.  I was not referring to any 'regular AI posters' with my crack about 'shallow and stupid' just in case anybody thinks that.  That was for trolls.

Opera is on with her trainer or weight loss guy and they are really going over some good tips. Thought this might be of interest of any reading this thread. (Or Joonie's exercise thread)
