tb test | Arthritis Information

I am really feeling like a hypochondriac.  Don't laugh.  I had a tb test yesterday afternoon and this morning about ten I started feeling really crappy.  I had to go back to bed.  I was coughing  a lot and achey, felt feverish.  Tonight I still feel crappy.  I have had tb tests in the past when I was working in schools.  Never had a reaction.  Could my sudden unwellness be related to the tb test and my lowered immune system

I checked a couple of websites.  They all say the same thing:

What are side effects of the test? The TB skin test will not make you sick. It may cause swelling, itching or tenderness at the site of injection, which usually disappears within a week.

So...uh...yes...maybe you're paranoid.

More importantly, are you getting any reaction at the site of the test?

Thanks Sara.  I guess I just got a "bug" and it was conincidental right after the tb test.  I asked you not to laugh

The test site looks just fine.  I can't wait to start my Humira.  Still waiting on insurance.  Thanks for curing my paranoia........

I just recently had a TB test done and had a positive reaction and it did itch.  Unless you get a swollen blister inside a red round circle, you have nothing to worry about, although you may still itch there.

It takes from 48 to 72 hours to tell what the test will come out but I can tell you from past experience if nothing happens to the site by 48 hours, usually nothing will.  Mine swelled 20 minutes after they injected me and just keep getting bigger and bigger.

like Sara said....Don't Panic....
Hey Waddles,  So are you being treated for tb?  From what I have read, I think that would  be pretty scary.  I can't even see where they stuck me so I guess mine is negative.  Thanks for input.  I feel much better today.  Roxy, agree with others.  Your symptoms are from the RA dear.   No reaction to injection site, GREAT!   You should be able to start your biologics soon and finally get some relief soon!!    How's married life treating you!!??   It's so much easier to dear with RA when you have someone who loves you and cares!!   Enjoy your day and have fun!  Go swimming in the creek......that sounds sooooooo much fun to me!!!
  Hi Roxy,

I don't have  active TB.  All my sputum tests, chest xray and cat scan came back negative for active TB .  But they think that somewhere in my life's journeys, I came in contact with someone who had TB and I now I am what they call a PPD converter, have no idea what they mean, unless they mean Latent TB, so they put me on Isoniazid and B6 for 9 months.   Both the Rheumatologist and the Pulmonologis, still think I can go on Enbrel while taking the medications but I am not sure I want to.  I will have to get better answers about the safety of that before I say "let's go for it".

It is really refreshing to hear how, "in love you both are and the contentment that you both are feeling", through your postings.  I wish you and your husband, all the  blessings that life holds for you both.

((((HUGS))))

Ah Thanks you guys.  I feel very blessed right now.  I was sooooo scared and in pain for so long,  I have not been thinking straight.  I actually considered breaking it off with this wonderful man.  I didn't think life was ever going to be good again.  It totally amazes me now how much more positive my outlook on life is.  Anti depressants, pain management and having a partner has made all the difference.  And of course, YOU GUYS!  I have always been very independent, ra has taught me it is ok to need people.  I hope we can help others on here that get so depressed.  We have all been there.  It is astounding how life can turn around with ra.
