Hi Everyone, I just took my 2nd injection( I started last week). Today my husband game it to me in my arm...is it suppose to hurt so bad???  I have the Enbrel in the syringes, not the injector. My Son is diabetic and when my Rhumetologist asked which i perfered I picked the needle since I was familiar with it from my son...   Thanks In advanceI also used the syringes when I was on Enbrel, and I found the upper arm in the deltoid area to actually be the LEAST painful site. Not sure why it's so painful for you in that area, is your husband maybe injecting the medication too fast?

I use the sureclick and always in my thighs as they are by far my largest body part, and they ALWAYS,  ALWAYS burns like crazy!

It works well though, so I figure its worth it.

i use sureclick but i think the arms hurt less then the thigh.......

Chrise,

Are you injecting into fat or meat and muscle? It is supposed to be injected into fat. I am very limited because i have a roll of fat that runs just east and west of my bellybutton and no other fat anywhere. The only time i feel any pain is if i hit a hard spot, maybe a scar tissue. Also you want to make sure that the needle is at the right angle so that the very point is the closest to the skin if not is is kinda painful. If i were you, i would get used to doing it myself because i have full control and i know if i am going too fast because i can feel the sting start and i can slow down.

Lev

P.S. I still hate injecting not because of pain, just a needle thing i think.

levlarry39254.3768634259Warm up your skin and let the syringe get to room temperature. then inject very slowly, letting the burn subside, inject a little more. Take your time with it. My RD told me to take the syringe out of the fridge before I take my shower and let it "warm" up in the bathroom from the steam. Then while my skin is still warm I inject. It still burns a little but not that bad. What gets me is the itching for the whole day following!I've been on Enbrel since last September.  I use the SureClicks.  For the first several months, I always injected in my thighs...and let me tell you, it burned like crazy!!  For the last six weeks or so, I've been injecting in my tummy, and it's so much better!  It still stings a little bit, but nothing like when I was doing it in my thighs.  I won't ever inject in my thighs again if I can help it!

dordale :)
enbrel always burns.. make sure you pinch the fatty area that your injecting the drug into pretty hard.. once the needle is in, you can let go.. and it should definitely be at a 45 degree angle I believe.. not perpendicular I inject my stomach an inch under the navel while sitting down.  That seems the least painful for me.
