I was wikipedia-ing this morning (I'm bored, sick and in pain. LOL)
I know my RD had for sure diagnosed me with Hypermobility Syndrome....but I had NO idea. Reading about it, it all MAKES sense.
I've had severe problems with everything listed my WHOLE life. I was a
competitive figure skater, so I think THAT masked a TON of my symptoms,
because we all just assumed it was because of my skating. But I bruise
SO easy, my skin scars easy (I have a HUGE scar on my leg, from a
ZIPPER scratching my skin when I was 13. It didn't even bleed and it's
left a HUGE scar), I bruise SO easy, and it takes WEEKS for them to
heal....It just ALL makes sense.
Does that mean y'all may kick me out if I truely don't have RA???
Most likely it's HMS & early-onset osteoarthritis (from my skating
and extreme flexibility). It still could be RA.....but I don't know.
I'm really starting to doubt it.
Of course I may look back to this post one day and think "man, I was a
moron". It's just that I want to know WHAT is wrong, even if it's not
everything wrong, just ONE thing wrong would be great.
My second RD said HMS was just a secondary conditition and it could not
make me be in as much pain as I am, yet my 3rd and current RD says it
can be MORE painful than RA. But since there isn't any signs of
inflammation or joint damage most Drs brush it off. She's actually
taking it seriously. (she called me PERSONALLY last night, just to
check up on me....since I've put in a call into her office this week
and she's on rotation at Parkland. I mean, who does that? Our pedi
does....and my OB does.....but I've NEVER had another Dr do it!!)
*sighs* Who knows. off to read more. I can't type anymore
you better still stick around if its not RA....ill hunt you down

Good good. Eowyn is nursing some stitches (I swear, that child has thhe
freakist (is that I word? I'm making it one. LOL) accidents!!) and the
baby is walking!!! yay!
Don't worry I'll stick around.
I was also researching EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), and wow, alot of
the "points" they look for to diagnose, it's there. The childhood
growing pains, my super flexibility, even BEFORE I skated/danced, and
the bruising & scarring that happens to me SO easy. I have a bruise
from resting my KNEE on the back of a truck bumper. FOUR weeks ago.
it's still there. I also cut my legs shaving alot, and the wounds take
WEEKS to heal....even when I'm good and I don't pick at them. (I'm a
little OCD...lol)
I remember when I was little....I don't know, somewhere between 7
(because my sister was around) and before I was 11 (since it was before
I started skating) I was screaming in pain IN my sleep from growing
pains. It scared the crap out of my mother so bad that she actually
took me to the ER. (my mother being completely anti-medication. She had
a surgery 8 years ago and completely refused any pain meds after....it
took her a year to heal, instead of 3 months. What a moron). I don't
remember much of it, just that is scared the daylights out of my
parents. When ever it happened again my mom gave me tylenol and sent me
back to bed.
And she wonders why I don't speak to her. LOL (okay, so that isn't the reason. but it sounds like fun)
glad to hear that the kids are doing well....that sounds like a good reason lol
Hmm, not sure if thats good news or bad news, I honestly don't know too much about that condition! However, I agree, please stick around, a chronic illness is a chronic illness! Love and hugs Ummm... yeah you would be sorely missed. And I mean missed by sore, hurtin people [QUOTE=joonie]Ummm... yeah you would be sorely missed. And I mean missed by sore, hurtin people
