No family history of RA | Arthritis Information

I have a question. I don't have any family history of any kind of autoimmune disease. I don't know how did I get it. But I am just worried, will it pass to next generation?I don't think anyone knows the answer to that question. I does run in families, but you can get it out of the blue. No one in my family has it either, but I guess someone's got to go first. Aren't we the lucky ones.

One theory is that you may have a genetic pre-disposition to auto-immune diseases based on your family, and that a major infection can trigger the disease to activate.  I know recently they discovered genes linked to several diseases, including RA, but I don't think they know enough about it yet.

justgotit, do you have children?  Or are you thinking about having children?

I know my grandmother had it and my cousin (male) on the same side of the family developed it in his 30's.  He has it fairly severe.
