What and Who is an AI FORUM TROLL | Arthritis Information

Share

This is who and what an AI troll is:

An AI troll is any body that makes a statement against a statement by a group of members. The group trys quickly to discredit the person not by fact but by calling the person a troll or another derogatory term in the hopes of getting rid of the opposing view. The group will make it seem as tho the whole AI membership is against them and their view.

I think it is a shame that so many people have been run off from this forum just because of an opposing view. What does it matter? If a person is giving an opinion, that's what it is, an opinion. If a member says it is fact, then they have to back it up. If they can back it up or show some facts, they shouldn't be run off just to be silenced. I know that recently some were called trolls and the proof is that they don't post anymore. Well, maybe they thot that some of the members were hostile enuff to hunt them down and kill them. Most people run away from bullies.

I just think that we have run alot of new members off by trying to pick and choose who and what our membership should be.

LEV

Lev,

Yes, you are right there is a "group" on this board... it is a large "group" of people sufferring from the same disease or has someone sufferring from the same disease.

We have a few posters that do not even have RA, but a family member who does, that posts, and do you see this so-called group running them off? No! Because there is no "group".

If there is a "group" on this board how come I was not asked to join it? Oh wait... I already have when I was 18 months old.

Joonie,

Let me clarify what i meant. I didn't mean a group, i meant a group of same minded opinions, which could change depending on topic. I didn't mean a group being the same at any one time.

LEV

Ahhhh ok, much more clear

I do not like dogs, they scare me. Especially the big dogs, afraid they will jump on me and knock me over. Now the little dogs, I am afraid they will makes me trip over them and I go boom-boom.

[QUOTE=pin cushion]I'm glad it isnt 1.30 here as it would be longer til bedtime

Hehe -- funny hubby!

Hugs, Karin

I love dogs.  Mine is my buddy.  Mine is somewhat of a nut tho.  But then again...look who his mama is lol.

Pool???  When is the pool party??  I will make mint iced T lol.

I like butterflies and ice cream. butterflies and ice cream wonder how that would taste [QUOTE=grammaskittles]

Okay, you are all invited. Grammaskittles will bring the mint iced tea. Butterflies and ice cream will be served. Do any of the responders here feel that they may have shown Lev some
disrespect here by blowing him off?

I am the definition of a troll. I have never posted before.  I will never post again. I registered under this name so that I could post with no reprecussions. There are repercussions on this board if you post what someone doesn't agree with.

Lorster has a point. You blew him off.  It is rude and childish and that's what this board has become. Rude, obnoxious, regular posters with no consideration for the feelings of others.

Now you can play "who's the troll?" until the cows come home and everyone is a suspect.

Well,

I guess that Pin cusion made my point. All new members should not have to pass the "genuine newbie" test. Genuine newbies due not have an opposing view point at least until they have been established with-in the "regulars community"? I think that many people just kinda lurk but when a subject comes up that they have strong feelings about, they "member up" and post their opinion and if it is an opposing view, they are troublemakers and trolls and many other derogatory things. I'm sure that others do use aliases so as to not be attacked and even thrown out of the forum by a group or get hunted down as some have suggested.

As far as this thread turning to disrespect or just a groups chit-chat doesn't mean anything to me. That group has the right to say what they want. All others can take how that group used this thread as they see into it and out of it but to me it means nothing. I don't even like mint iced tea.

I am hoping that we will welcome all new members and welcome back all the members that have left for hard feelings. I hope that those of you that know of members that have left and gone elsewhere that you will invite them back and that we are tolerant of their views.

I also think that some members need not be so thin skinned. Stand up for yourself. Just because it seems as tho the whole board is against you, it is really only a small number that openly opposes you. The majority of the membership may agree with you, generally the silent majority, they just avoid confrontation and argument.

I would be more suspicious of a new member that comes here with luv and hugs and soon as accepted she posts a link to her business in order to sell her products. Especially if that member talks about how much she has and her good position and even teaches ethics classes? Certainly she must be able to pay for advertising like the rest of the advertisers here on the AI forum. I would wonder how many other disease forums she belongs to in order to spam and have free advertising. But that's just my opinion.

While i'm on it, does it seem to anyone else that more and more some members are asking more and more personal questions? Just strong suggestion, be very careful about giving any personal information. Remember, luv and hugs can come from criminals. If they can get enough bits and pieces they can put together a person.

Lev

Oh Lev...please lighten up. There are at least as many angels as trolls in this world. The trolls get way too much 'press'. The good seldom get even a mention.

Let's all have a 'jingle jangle morning and go flying together'! (At least our feet won't hurt).

marian39258.6634722222Well, thanks for the insult lev!  You could just mention my user name instead of trying to be sneaky.  For your information (you could have asked me, instead of insulting me) several members were talking about hobbies and beading.  I love to bead, I design and it is an issue I have dealt with since RA makes it more difficult.  Many people gave links to their work and pictures.  I was asked for mine.

There are threads about work, careers etc.  I did post there.  I am thankful that I have a job that I can still do and have such wonderful people to work with.  I am thankful for my wonderful family and friends.  If people on this board ask me questions I am happy to help them.  I happen to know a lot about how the health system works, I have been in it for years.

I post about how much I have?  What a laugh.  Since my husband and I have been married we have been working extremely hard, even with my 5 joint surgeries in the past 5 years.  We are very frugal people who do without for ourselves, because we have 6 kids, 3 in college and one still at home.  Anything we have or do is for them.

Thankfully, I don't belong to any other disease forums, nor do I need free advertising or to spam people.  I have articles in leading magazines with my designs.  Members have asked me or PM'ed me about beading, medical records, codes and questions on careers in health care.  I never sought anyone out and was happy to help.

I have removed my link and will never post pictures again.  I do teach and legal aspects and ethics class and would not have posted my website if I had not been asked or if there hadn't been a place for it under "settings".

I have found help and hope here, I will not be chased off by a troll like you.  I enjoy it here and have made good friends with several members.  If you have problems with me, PM if you like, I will be not be as rude or obnoxious to you as you are to me.

Ok, I thought I got rid of my webpage link, I will have to try it again

Mary,

You can still link to your beading website. You can do this by going to "Settings" > "Profile Information" > and look for "Homepage" and insert your homepage addy there. Once you click "Update"... on the bottom of your posts you will have a

And YOU GO, GIRL!!

Also~I like seeing what other's are into and also don't mind seeing links to any websites that might be related to those we consider friendly. Now if it's a sole purpose to come here and post unrelated link that's not ok......but it's entirelly different (IMO) when it's friendly fire so to speak.

Do we need things to argue about so badly that we have to dig them up?

Not me.

Cheers!

Lev, I really apologize if you think I was serious about "hunting Joonie down" because I played with her about giving me a bladder infection and Kelsaysmom a UTI. Me as a stalker

Maybe that is where you got your bladder infection from was Holiday Inn Express

Do not ask me what I am talking about. I am bored again. Son & Hubby are outside putting up the puppies pen, and I am sitting here burnin' & hurtin' and looks like nothing good on TV. Thought I would come bother you folks. I know that any of us could be pretending to be anyone.  I met my husband online about 12 years ago and we always joke about what the other could have really been like if we had been dishonest people who had gone online to be "trolls" or just to play with someone's emotions. To quote Popeye "I yam what I yam".  Mary - I greatly appreciate your posts, your professional wisdom and very helpful suggestions, your ethics, and could care less about the beading, but 3 out of 4 is not bad :)  We love you.  Take care CathyThanks Cathy!  I will take 3 out of 4 anytime I can get it.

Joonie!!! Don't tell all of our staking secrets!!! Sheese!!!

Mary, I love and look forward to all your posts; you are one very smart lady, classy lady

Lev, I think you are an intelligent person too, but maybe overly sensitive, I hope I didn't offend you

Seriously, I do apologize to all if I have offended anyone when I was playing with Joonie or anybody else, everyone has been more than gracious and helpful to me  even when it did not concern my sister with RA. I get bored too Joonie and spend a lot of time alone during the week and love to read about what people are doing in their lives, when I feel likeI know so many of you and what you're going through dealing with this disease. I think you're all very interesting and very brave and I appreciate all the OT's and updated info on this disease. Take Care and God Bless

Mary, don't be upset by what was posted.  Don't you get it - you are now part of the group!!!

Jealousy and a feeling of not being accepted often cause children to act out so you will pay attention to them.  Things get a little slow and quiet on the board, you can count on ol' Lev to stir it up.  Surely you know you aren't the first to be stung by his barbs, and unfortunately, you won't be the last.  Wear your barbs proudly - the rest of us do!

You bead!

How cool!

Pip

hey lev:  Not fair.    I did the same thing as Maryblooms and you singled her out.  If you are going to point out minute transgressions (in your opinion)  be fair and point them all out and single out ALL of us.

Mary I'm sorry you got caught up in this.

Pam

Thanks all, I have gotten many messages and posts and I will "wear by barbs proudly".

Mary B
I like to look at maryblooms and pams websites, They also contribute in many other ways to this board. You mistook my post Lev. I wasnt agreeing with you, It just seems that when anything kicks off on this board there is a flood of abuse by "newbies" who dont show themselves any other time for any other reasons. Its not about agreeing with regulars posts as input is welcome by anyone with their own opinions but when the last lot of trouble started it was just insults being branded by these new posters, they hadnt been on here before( unless under another name) and they havent been on here since. Why bring it up again anyway. Your post was totally out of the blue .I like Lev's posts. The ones that refer to RA and research. I like many other peoples posts here also. I enjoy all of this back and forth but sometimes people can be cruel whether your in the " group " or not. Keep it civil and everybody gets along.... Lev, if you're so concerned with new people being welcomed, why don't you ever post a greeting? Instead of starting threads like this one? You sure are a whole lotta talk, and not much action. Interesting.I'm with ya 6t5friane. Amen!

MaryBlooms,

Why do you feel insulted? If it is an honest mistake, there is certainly no reason to be embarrassed or insulted and therefore no reason to get mad or angry and start name calling and also try to discredit me. You should thank me for bringing your attention to the advertisers to the left of every page that actually pay for advertising here on the AI forum. To me it seemed evident that if advertising were free, why didn't the paying advertisers just become members and post their advertisements at the bottom of every post? Maybe they are just stupid that way? In the past, members that have done the same thing, were found all over the internet at different forums posting the link to there businesses at the bottom of every post. They were posting at practically satanic forums one day with every filthy word you can imagine and then with a google search you could find them at some religious forum talking up god and of course at the bottom of every post was the link to their business. MaryBlooms, don't you think that your homepage address should be a personal homepage, not a company with products to sell? You know, a personal homepage, like AOL, MSN and Yahoo allow you to do? Now most everyone has turned to myspace.com. Generally people will post their home page address and at their home page link, to what they want there. Look how much advertising i have given you, probably more than that whole thread on beads from awhile back. Hey you have gotten probably two thousand dollars of free advertising. If you are insulted, pay it. I just stated a fact that i am more suspicious of someone coming here and using this forum to sell their products than i am about someone that makes a post about being mad at people that are down on her for taking toxic drugs. I used to be one of those people that were always down on people for taking toxic drugs. Hey, the health store was just down the street and they had herbs and homeopathic medicines for everything. Well, i have since changed my opinion of that subject. Don't get mad, it's a good story to tell in your next ethics class and have a good laugh over.

Lev

Marian,

There are probably more trolls that are angels than you would believe. Believe it.

Lev

Genisis,

There is always that Cane and Able story. And concerning your second post, i am intelligent or let's say knowledgable and certainly not overly sensitive. How 'bout if i start a business and what i do is find companies that want to advertise their business and product and i charge them less than yahoo charges to advertise here and i post something like, Ow, i hurt so bad today, here are some advertisers i think you should visit and then i post the links. That's okay, right? I could make good money and all i have to do is log-in, post a few interesting topics and walah, collect that money.

Lev

Pammy416,

Doesn't make it right, does it? Just because you do it? Or maybe it does, the advertisers to the right are probably just too stupid to become a member and advertise for free fortunately.

Lev

pin cusion,

I know you weren't agreeing with me but you still made the point that there are genuine newbies and not genuine newbies and therefore somebody has to weed them out? But of course there are members that have genuine "genuine newbie" detectors thankfully.

Lev

Arriscolwell,

I'm not sure i know what you are talking about so maybe you will start a thread to show all of us how we are to post and how we are to address other forum members, that will be so helpful. You know i'm just not that "welcome, hugs and kisses" type person but if they want some good reliable information about rheumatoid arthritis and the meds and etcs, i'm a wealth of take it to the bank information. I have no motives to try and make new members believe that i am their new best friend. I look forward to you showing us all how to post. Thank you in advance.

Lev

I have to say I'm stressed to the max.  This may come out sounding mean, but know I'm truly not trying to be.

What does all this matter?

Lev, I've always enjoyed your posts in the past, but it seems like you are trying to be the advertising police here.  If it were such a big deal to Arthritis Insight, they'd deal with it.

Our health and personal life can be trying, do we have to make it worse by quibbling about things so trivial?

Yo Lev!

The advertisments you see to the left are FREE! Yes, they are free. They are called "pay-per-click". Another words they get to advertise for FREE, unless someone clicks on one of their links, then they pay the site owner a few cents per qualified click. They will send out a check to the site owner once they hit or whatever set amount for them to send out a check.

It is not like the members "advertising" is making that member any money. Most of the members websites do not even ask for money.

Hey Lev, Maybe you need to "advertise" your chauffuerring, there's an idea! I will even do your website for you free of charge! Nah... nevermind... no one on this board would like to be "blasted" (gotta blast) to where they are going and certainly would not want to put up with your attitude and way of thinking.

joonie39260.4792476852Joonie, for you and many others on this board lately. I see a lot of attitude
on here lately and it is not just from the feud awhile back. And this thread is
a typical example of that attitude. It reminds me of cheerleader camp. All
the little giggly girls stand in a circle and giggle at the one that just does not
quite fit in. It is very sad as far as I'm concerned.

I have not had attitude. I have been behaving. I could've jumped in and picked up for my friend, Mary, for what Lev said about her, but I did not. I have realized folks can take care of themselves and do not need me to make matters worse.

But hey! If you think I have attitude, so be it.

Oh and I do not see how hi-jacking a post, that should not have been started in the first place, is disrepectful. I mean if you are trying to keep the newbies around why keep stirring the pot with a post that clearly says that there is a group of people on here that will be against anything you say if it goes against them?

I mean you don't see me hi-jacking his research posts do ya? No. I do not hi-jack his informative posts... nope. Just this one because it was an attempt to make light of what he posted and to move things along.
