Medications for RA and OA | Arthritis Information

Can anyone tell me what kind of meds you take for these diseases? I know I asked on a different thread but can't remember which one so I figured I would start one of my own. I am currently taking Ultram 50 mg. twice a day only if necessary. GP gives me a rough time if I take them everyday. If I take any of the over the counter besides tylenol, I get pain in stomach. Tylenol doesn't touch the pain.

Thank you,

LindaUltram is the same as Tramadol which I take just about every night for pain; but I also take 25mg of MTX which is used to slow the progression of the disease. If you have RA you need to be on something else besides pain medication. Joint damage can occur very quickly and it's important that you start taking something in the early years.

Linda,

For pain, I take Relafen EVERY DAY.  I also have just been switched from Darvocet to Lortab to be taken when needed.

Lovie is right, if you have RA, you definitely need a DMARD such as Plaquenil, Methotrexate, Enbrel, etc.

i take 200mg slow release twice a day. plus celebrex and also panadeine forte when really bad

I am on mtx and humira.  I was on morphine for pain but weaning off and using only tylenol or percocet for any pain.

Are you on anything else besides pain meds to treat your ra??  What has your rheumy said to you about a treatment plan?

I am on Tramodol  2 tabs twice a dy for pain. some days I take it 3 times or I upggrade to Vicodin..

I take Remicade  every 5 weeks and  20 mg of MTX every week.

ick, tramadol made me buggy (and didn't touch the pain).

Your GP, can we smack him for giving you a hard time if you need to take it every day?

I agree, if you DO have RA, you need to get on a DMARD asap.
