Anyone have good results or problems with relafen?

Hi Jodi!

Been through all the NSAIDS.....have fantastic luck with Relafen, have the 750 mg 2 x day....and can start trying the lower dose, once a day, of 500 mg....

Celebrex never helped, was on mobic, bextra, u name it.....this one helps me, and hasnt bothered my stomach

hope you get the same results!!!High there! No probs w/ relafen for me. Wooo Hoo! Right now it's all I really have for pain since I've quit sulfazine and mtx. So far so good. I've been on it almost 2 yrs now. Hope it works for you. I had a severe side effect, but it's REALLY rare. NSAIDs make my blood preassure (which is high lately) drop VERY suddenly, and I happened to be in my kitchen when it happened the first time....resulting in passing out on my TILE floor after wacking my head on the counter....and had a seizure. My poor DH head the bang (I dropped something too. I think I was making him coffee or something) and he thought he was watching me die and he was frantic on the phone with 911. THank GOD the only thhing I remember is FREAKING out when the EMS came in the house and the sound of all the fire trucks out front and the police (we live in a small town...911 is the highlight of their day...LOL)

Happened again when I was on Mobic. BOTH times were exacly 4 days to the minute from when I started taking both. Luckily I was in my closet. Scared the crap out of my DH though.

We slowly worked up to about 600-800mg of ibprofen a day over a 3 month period....but I don't know if it helps. (especially since it looks like i don't have anything inflammatory. heh)

THhats me though. DH takes a relafen every now and then when his hands really work, and he LOVES the results. It's like night and day for him. (he's on the computer all day) He begged his PCP for a script when my one refill ran out. LOL

I LOVE MY RELAFEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It works great for me.  I take 1000 mgs once a day (two 500 mg pills).  When I flare, I take it twice a day for a total of 2000 mgs.

I've never had any side effects with it.  I generally take it with food, however, there were a few times I've taken it on an empty stomach.  I also take Prevacid every day.  From what I understand, Relafen is easier on the stomach than most.

i was on it a year it worked great with my acheyness and fatiuge, it started giving me stomache problems so i quit.

Thanks for your input.  I am doing okay with mobic but I was wondering if there is something better, with fewer potential side effects.  I found this article that made me curious about Relafen.   http://arthritis.webmd.com/news/20050616/study-most-painkill ers-up-heart-attack-risk?page=1
Thanks for your input.  I am doing okay with mobic but I was wondering if there is something better, with fewer potential side effects.  I found this article that made me curious about Relafen.   http://arthritis.webmd.com/news/20050616/study-most-painkill ers-up-heart-attack-risk?page=1
Hmmm, now that IS interesting, because I have seen a copy of a confidential report that begs to differ about relafen and heart attacks. Interesting. A close friend of mine keeps me updated on various drugs....I can't go into it because of confedentiality agreements, but there is SO much that the pharmaceutical companies do NOT tell us, and alot of the "facts" are pretty swayed about certian things.

I think thats why my blood preassure and pulse are so high....from the ibuprofen and narcotics I take for pain. But I cannot function without them, ya know? So, we added a beta-blocker to the cocktail....which is fine, since it's a "double" duty for me...my migraines have come back. LOL

I think I've tried all the NSAID's out there, including Relafen, and although I didn't experience any side effects (except Voltaren, which I had an allergic reaction to) most of them didn't really work. I'm currently on Lodine 600 mg. XL, and have been taking it for about 4 years. For me, it's the only NSAID that seems to provide any relief.

Hope the Relafen works for you!
