thanks to anyone for answers....diane
welcome to my second home Diane,
I have been on an enbrel mtx mix since April. Initially i got results within 24 hours. I got FULL effects about 4 months after starting it. I woke up one morning virtually pain free! I have been pretty much pain free since. I was sore today after doing all the pre set up and set up and running of the Road rally i planned, but i will prolly feel ok tomorrow (lack of sleep doesnt help either)
As for the depression, there is another thread about this. Many of the members here are on some sort of antidepressant. I am on zoloft. It makes dealing with the daily crap more tolerable!
Keep reading, youll learn lots, and youwill find it a good place for venting, bragging, and finding support.
Welcome!
Diane, So sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It took most of us several years of pain to get a proper diagnosis as well. Most meds take time to work and all of us have had many changes in drug therapy. What works for one may not help another or you may have to come off certain meds due to side effects or infection. Are you on any other meds besides the Enbrel? Prednisone is usually used till your other meds kick in as they work extremely well but they do have side effects. Are you on a NSAID or any pain meds also? Most people with this diagnosis also take some type of antidepressive. If you are still feeling badly after two months, it's time to call your Rheumy back and let her know how you are feeling!! You have come to a great place for support and information. Please post often and give us a chance to get to know you. I wish you have some pain relief very soon! Good luck dear!!Feel better soon and stick around.
Welcome Diane
Cant offer you much advice on meds since Im pretty new to this myself, but glad you found AI website, and the forums. Plenty of wise folks here that can give you good advice, sometimes better than a RD can give you.
Take care and feel better.

Hey Diane
I am sorry to hear about your dx.I am undiagnosed right now.I am glad you are now on meds. to slow down the RA and help with pain.I hope it doesn't take too much longer for you to get relief.
How did the dr. come up with the dx. of RA?My bloodwork is always negative.
I hope you feel better soon.Let us know how you are.
Sheila
I just thought that I'd welcome you to the board so WELCOME! You have found a good place here. I think alot of people will agree that you will find alot of support here and its great if you need to talk after a painful day. Everyone is going through the same as you so your not alone. Stay positive, it may take a few days or it may take a few months but eventually you will start to feel better. RA is not your life, its a part of your life. That sounded really corny but its true. Hope you feel better soon and welcome once again.
Jenna
Thank-you all again for you taking the time to post a reply to my call for help. i look forward to getting to know all of you also. I FEEL BETTER ALREADY!! ......... Diane
Diane; I don't know what's worse, the RA or the FIBRO. Both give you fatigue but I got to the point I could not function at work anymore. I could not control it, coudn;'t concentrate, the brain fog and I could sleep 20 out of 24 hours easily. I was desperate to find something that could give me SOME energy. Felt like I was gonna lose my job as a stockbroker if I couldn't get it together. I was missing days every other week!! It (Provigil) gives me just a NORMAL energy level without any nervousness, I can concentrate and get my work done. People do not need a financial advisor with brain fog!!TaraL
Thanks for the note...i am reading all i can...and learning a lot. i have lived with pain a long time, and seems one illness has run into another, making it harder to treat the problem. i guess we all want a quick fix...but it takes time to find the right meds to work for each of us.
i have found frienship here...and plan on staying tuned!
am i posting correctly? do i answer individuals by name? HELP!
Diane
Welcome to the family Diane. We're glad you're here. (And your posting find. Just keep doing what you're doing)
I take Humira and MTX. I was on MTX close to three years before starting Humira. It helped my fatigue right away; but took several months to help the pain. Don't give up. Hang in there. It's very common for it to take a while. It has to build up in your system...and that takes some time.
Again; welcome. You're found a great place here.
